The New Zealand Herald is running a bulletin board discussion on the decriminalization of cannabis.

One post by someone calling themselves "Whanganui it is (Gonville)" contains a concentrated barrage of dubious health 'advice'. I'm quoting it in full because I have never seen anything quite like it and I am wondering if anyone else has?
I think that the use of marijuana seriously inhibits the effectiveness of that government sponsored addition to our water supplies - fluoride.

Its well known in some circles that this was used by the Germans to dumb down the populace, certain scientist even saying that once tried (fluoride), you'll never be the same person again.

Could it be this is the only reason for its legal status.You don't want a large chunk of the populace thinking for themselves, its dangerous. Better the alcohol, made with good quality fluoridated kiwi spring water.

Topped off with barium, boron, aluminium that some sick puppies are spraying into our atmosphere via long lasting jet con-trails.

Wow! This is a new one. Usually they just say the gov't is floridating the water to give us cancer and leave it at that. I must commend his originality! :D

Its a naturally occurring element. It shows up in (off the top of my head) around a third of the water supplies of the United States. As a matter of fact. Some municipal water companies have to reduce the levels to prevent fluorosis (stained teeth).
 
There was a call from someone who at least had read something by the anti-fluoridation nuts on NPRs "On Your Health" with Dr. Zorba Paster today. He gave a good answer.

The caller said that he had heard that Europe has banned fluoride in municipal water because of its proven health risks. Zorba pointed out 1) that Europe has not banned fluoridated water, and 2) an abundance of research over 30 some years shows that it's incredibly effective in preventing cavities and safe at the levels used in municipal waters supplies.

He pointed out the only concern you might have for getting too much is if you had a natural source (a mineral spring or something). If that's the case, he said your local health department will come out and test your water for you.

Yes, it does occur naturally. I misread the quoted material and thought that the poster was accusing the NZ government of adding chemicals directly to the spring.
 
If I can only in lighten one person all the neg. woo woo will be worth it. Big arguments on other threads but I believe that sodium fluoride not calcium or all the other natural fluorides harms you. Sodium Fl. is a waste product from industry and a poison. Do some study and you will find that it inter fears with your thinking and suppresses your chi. It is a modern day witch hunt. Since when can a gov. force medication. Tests for amounts very as it settles out and little used taps will give dangerous readings. I believe 1/ppm is what they try for but some taps will test up to 15/ppm so I'm told. One reason to flush the mains as they do. The people who are loaded will never believe this, they can't. As for kids teeth what utter con lies. Have a hard look at the poison in tooth paste. Apart from fluoride aspartate,another neurotoxin and the white abrasive powder which was once cuttle fish bone now a aluminum oxide. Wake up for your kids sake.

OK, I am now convinced that OB is a fake. "In lighten"? "...amounts very"? But he spells fluoride correctly? Something apparently 95% of the population can't do?

It's very difficult to misspell convincingly if you really do know how to spell.

Maybe not a troll, but definitely something similar...

As I have already explained, you are wrong. In high enough dose, fluoride prevents nerve transmission (leading to seizures) but, at that dose, it also turns to acid in your stomach and interferes with proper heart function. It cannot affect the brain in less than lethal doses.

And the Nazis never experimented with it as a mind control drug - not even once.
 
I was always more intrigued by the claim that waccy baccy was a cure for the effect of the fluoride mind control effect... anyone willing to test this out?;)

Please tell us about your half moon tree mason like symbol so we may understand where you are coming from. Do the masons sell the fluoride to water boards?

Bob ol' sport. Just about everything is a poison -- you can be poisoned by water (and I don't mean drowned). If you take an Aspirin® (ASA), for a headache (or chew bark or leaves of the willow tree if you are not into the ebil allopathic stuff) you can be poisoned. Don't put sodium chloride on your food -- you might actually poison yourself.

Surely you understand the concept of "nothing in excess"? Or then again, maybe you don't. :boggled:
