Tam 7?

I'd be curious to know how many Americans would come to a UK / Europe based TAM.
Cost would be a major issue- the same one non Americans face getting to Vegas.

It would depend on the timing, but I could do it.

I'm getting pretty good at Wii bowling. :o I gave up bowling after I played 3 games with an average of 3. In one game I actually managed a zero as the only pins I knocked down occurede when the ball jumped to the next lane and scored a strike. I was not allowed back in that establishment.

I'm much better with horses.

I don't think any of the balls are drilled out so a horse can use them.

You use the horse instead of the balls. They have to be unshod though to keep them from marking the lanes.

I always find that the ball breaks to the left. I haven't yet worked out the exact twist required to make it break to the right.
IRL, the ball follows the thumb. You want it to break right, release the ball with your thumb on the right; you want it to spin left, release the ball with your thumb on the left. Left is actually preferable. (Assuming you're bowling right-handed; if you're a southpaw, then a right spin is preferable.)

Your background is shining through. Mom and Dad would be so proud!!

I am still trying to figure out the automatic horse return. I guess a carrot attached to an overhead cable would work.

I completely and totally agree -- then we can refer to it as the "jiggler"!

I really do ride horses, and by next year I should be down to my Lifetime Goal Weight and back into skating trim...I hereby nominate Geek Goddess to participate as well!

Hmmm, July 9th you say?

I would seriously consider it, hopefully the dollar will recover a little after the election

I'd strongly consider it if it was in the UK. I've been around Europe several times, but all I've ever seen of the UK is Heathrow. And I have to think the rest of the UK has to be better than that.

FWIW I'd definitely go to a TAM in the UK. Also New York and California, but not Los Vagas.

I've seen this sentiment before. Why the ban on Las Vegas? Sure, it's tacky, but there's no TAM requirement that you go to the casinos/shows/strip joints. You do need to wander into a bar now and again to get the full experience, but that would be true in NYC or LA or London or 18th century Greece or anywhere else this bunch congregates :)

I would happily go to a TAM in the UK. I'd visit Europe for any reason, or no reason at all, actually.

JGLR information

Hi!

So, we're actually starting to get some ladies seriously agreeing to the JREF Godiva Ladies' Ride (JGLR) sometime during / at TAM 7.

When we get closer to actual planning dates, I'll start a thread on JGLR. Meanwhile, for those who may be interested:

We'll be riding on horses, wearing...less than one normally wears on horses. I am anticipating that swimsuits would be the default attire--though of course that is a very broad category...and certainly, anything flesh-colored from Victoria's Secret or equivalent should also be okay... ;)

Interested ladies may PM me on the topic.

Gents, any 'volunteering' or requests of ladies should be done on this thread (or the JGLR thread).

That sooo wants to be the JREF Godiva Lady Ride (JGLR).

:eye-poppi

Huh?

I certainly qualify for the 'jiggler' part. I don't see the attraction of having my 50+year old pudgy bits on display. Just...eww.

Hokulele, on the other hand...

I have not previously ridden sidesaddle, but that's simply because I've never had access to one. The trick is that the horse needs to also know how to take signals from one leg and the crop instead of two legs. It's a lost art.

Does Geek Goddess even know she's been volunteered?ArthW, I'll be in the 'hug' line, too...
Not until you PMd me this morning.

I think Boo would be great, and she's already mentioned she likes horses...

Let's ride! I have tried side saddle a very very long time ago and just once. Can't begin to think about doing it without the huge skirt and petticoats though, otherwise it just looks silly.

Given that I have recently lost 25 lbs though and am trying very hard to keep it off I don't have much in the way of jiggly bits though and after carrying twins there is NO WAY I'm exposing anything between knees and collarbones.
