Blame the m#@&F#@*ing conservatives
In the USA, the conservative Republicans, under the guidance and influence of right-wing Christians and Catholics, had deemed prostitution as unlawful because the American people are too stupid to not know what's not good for them. Criminalizing prostitution in America has only increased STD (including HIV/AIDS), and further aided the illicit drug trade. A significant number of prostitutes in America have a drug addiction, and are selling themselves to support their drug habit. I know this because I use to regularly see prostitutes in the early 80s, and most were single mothers doing what they can to subsidize their low-paying jobs back then. Today, the ones on the streets are often crack-cocaine users, and the smart ones advertise on the "erotic services" section of Craigslist, Eros, and other websites that list escort services online. There is an effort to legalize prostitution in some states, but they're outnumbered by the number of conservatives who believe it's better to drive sex workers to go underground, instead of requiring them to undergo medical examinations for STD on a regular basis. It's an absurd waste of court time and police resources, but liberal-minded people like me who believe it should be legalized are a small minority. Unlike supposedly "decent" women, sex workers understand what men need to have on a regular basis. In contrast, "decent" women often give you "not tonight, I have a headache" line, then later cry foul when her husband wanders elsewhere to seek out what she had deprived him in the bedroom.
