StopSylviaBrowne - I Speak With Sylvia Browne

I was in Las Vegas back in January for a convention. I recall when I was passing through the Excalibur I saw a large poster advertising the witch. I thought it was rather interesting that RSL and friends found no posters advertising her performance (for lack of a better word) and were forced to hunt down the venue.

Do you suppose that she and her people knew that TAM would be in town soon, along with her arch nemesis(es) [what the heck is the plural of nemesis anyway?] James Randi and RSL, along with many others of a skeptical mindset?

I'd wager she had them removed temporarily to try and keep a low profile during the time all the dark entities were in town.

And of course Robert and Claus, allow me to add my thanks and encouragement for your great work.

Maybe people were painting a mustauche on her picture!

Yep, that was me. She was bitching about not sharing the stage with JE in Atlantic City.

Rob

Out of curiosity, was Sylvia's performance less conspicuously advertised than John Edward's? Did anyone get a glimpse of where Edward was, the size of the room, audience, etc?

I remember back when JE published his first book, he mentioned Sylvia in the dedication or acknowledgments as having paved the way for people like him, so I'd think at one time her lectures would have drawn a bigger audience. Also, I could swear I remember someone on this forum saying that Sylvia was once reluctant to share a stage with JE, as if she was too good to have to stoop so low.

So I can't help but wonder if she's now been relegated to stooping...

Kudos, Robert! The way you handled yourself is impressive.

I'm not above believing that psychicism is possible. I've seen some things that lead me to believe that the phenomena is possible in some way, shape or form. However, Browne is not a psychic and, even before the Shawn Hornbeck incident, this is REALLY obvious.

I'm sure that she'll now be using the fact that security asked you to leave to her advantage and will most certainly lie about what actually happened that day. Lying seems to be all she really does anymore.

Also, great question, Claus! Asking her to come up with a very uncommon name was a great idea and a fantastic way to determine if she's really legitimate. Awesome!

SB: I know hon, but she had a bad heart too that the doctors didn't tell you about. She didn't want them to worry you....

You'd be hard pressed to argue at that point, and she saves face with the audience.

I'd say. "You're right that they didn't tell me, because I was NOT born yet!"

My grandmother died in 1956 and I was born in 1962.

But that was a good "devil's advocate", Locknar.

Doh! I mis-read and thought you wrote about your mother (vs "mother's mother" which, in re-reading you clearly wrote).

My mistake aside, you get my point though...she'd simply play off the mistake as what "they" told you vs what really happened and that would be that.

I totally got it. But I'm wondering if I should change my question to "who is my father's mother's father?" and see who she comes up with. If you're a movie buff, the answer would be Cecil B. deMille. And he really died of a heart attack.

Thanks juryjone for you quote. I can't quote you directly yet as I've not made enough posts. I'd figured that she may have lied but given how Montel Williams has made such a big deal of Sylvia Browne I wouldn't have been surprised. I'd love to know how much damage she did to his show when she was exposed as a liar on several occasions. She's lived on lies for years and has had a good time doing it. Hopefully forums like this and Robert Lancaster, etc, will help to stop others from reaching her undeserved status in the future. :)

Don't think the thought didn't cross my mind.

If I had thought of it I would have printed out a stack of business cards with the SSB website's URL on it and left them around.

By the way, I think something is worth mentioning again. Robert has done a fantastic job exposing Sylvia as a fraud through his very fair, objective and evenhanded reporting. He has given Sylvia and her supporters ample opportunity to give counterclaims, and as far as I can see they have failed to do so. He has always taken the high road and it's paying off.

If any of us who support Robert's work wish to do our part, we should make sure we do it in the same spirit of SSB.com. Last year I mentioned that I had seen her books in a bookstore and thought about slipping in a little card with the SSB site on it. Someone mentioned that if I were to do it, I should make sure that the ink would not rub off and that I do it in a manner which would cause no harm to the book at all. No need to give her supporters ammo to use against us or let them accuse us of shenanigans.

Great article.
You were a perfect gentleman.
I wonder if, one day, the person she has hired to push her around in her wheelchair will do to her what the doctor in the movie "Hannibal" did to Gary Oldman's character.
(Obviously I'm not a gentleman.)

I did not see Sylvia's posters up in the Excalibur either. At the ticket booth there was no sign, but they did have her as one of the things showing on their electronic board, with no mention of where the show was. I did not know where it was but wandered up to the floor with the Thunder Down Under show and only there right outside the theater was the Sylvia poster. It is interesting that her show was fairly hidden give the amount of publicity that usually goes with most shows.
