Warm Fuzzies About TAM6

I guess I don't have any real complaints.

Wait, yes I do. My complaint is that it ends on Sunday.

I don't know about anybody else. All I know is that I wait for this weekend like a port in a storm. It's the one weekend out of the year that I get to meet new people and really--truly--be ME. Not some quieter, more conservative version of me. Not the glib, pop culture-savvy version of me. ME. And the people I've met are amazing. And the things I'm learning are amazing. It's all amazing. They should include "amazing" in the name of the conference.

I'm suffering from an incurable case of the warm fuzzies. Is anyone else?

Ditto. I have met many kindred spirits here. Until the next TAM, I feel this forum shall serve as a lifeline of sorts, keeping me connected with many of my skeptoid brothers and sisters.

It was great meeting you this evening at Quark's, saganite. And you at the Island Bar, Mattus. You are now no longer disembodied avatars but real folks.

that's great that you've got the warm and fuzzies and TAM must be AMAZING!!.....but their doesn't seem to be very much info coming out. I hear the WiFi in the Flamingo is scarce. Has anyone heard anything about that?

Hey Saganite, I think we all feel that way, but are afraid to express it lest we jinx the vibe. ;) Skeptics! It was nice to see you on the monorail and think to myself, "Hey, that's Saganite; she seems plenty sparkly to me."

Klippa; best I can do for ya:

I've got wifi in my "deluxe" room (hah!), but it costs $12.95 a day to use.
Las Vegas seems to be designed to suck as much money out of your pocket
in as many ways as possible. I can't wait to get back to good old inexpensive
New York City (those familiar with with NYC will get the irony of that statement).

I just got home. As always, it's been a pleasure to be around so many like minded people. :D

My wife and I just got home and want to say we had a fantastic time at our first TAM. Well worth the long weekend spent away from home. We have to spend a combined couple weeks throughout the year in Vegas at trade shows for our respective jobs and thus never even think of going to Vegas for fun, but TAM broke the evil spell.

It was great meeting so many like-minded people. Everyone was awesomely friendly! After all, some people get together to break bread but 900 people getting together to simultaneously bend and break spoons? That was cool! A new Olympic event is born: synchronized spoon bending.

I have to confess starting to get a little choked up as everyone gave Randi such a heartfelt and well-deserved ovation for his decades of incredible service making this world a better place for reason and rationality.

Did anyone else notice the John Edward promotional poster in the hotel lobby? My wife had to physically restrain me from scrawling the word "FRAUD" across that ugly forehead late last night with my trusty black Sharpie. :-) It's just as well, we didn't care too much for the Flamingo and are glad TAM is moving to another venue next year.

Hey.... thank you to everyone who came up and said hello. This was my first TAM and it was... ummm....welll.... A M A Z I N G

See you at TAM 7

Wow!

I also just arrived back to my lovely back woods (and backwards) town.
It was a fantastic experience meeting so many wonderful, thinking folks.
I am soooooo excited about cruising to Mexico in March and TAM 7.

You have given me the motivation to get out into the community searching for 'skeptically ' minded people to commune with.

THANKS EVERYONE :)

Got home last night at 1am......

It was a great time and I was depressed yesterday on the drive home knowing that It was over and I have to wait a year to be back. At least this year i only have to wait a year instead of the year and a half I had to wait for TAM 6.....

It was great meeting everyone I did, and I wish I got to meet more. Until next year.....

I had a very good and exciting time, as always has been the case on previous TAMs. Everyone was very friendly and kind, kind enough to take the time an patience to understand my poor English.

Thanks to everyone. My public thanks and recognition go to Fitter who in an act of impressive kindness bought lunch for a group of ten of us at the Tropical Breeze.

Also, to those of you I did not approach to say hi, please accept my apologies. It's hard for me to overcome my shyness in big crowds.

Hi Richard,

Both my wife Emily and I really enjoyed meeting you at the dinner. We will always keep as cherished momentos the Pigasuses and the Pizza joint magnet from Sydney. Also can't wait to tryout the devining experiment on our 4 kids.

Best of luck with all your endeavors!

Mike and Emily Maine, USA:)

That John Edward poster---anyone else notice the green booger of gum that kept appearing under one nostril?

ohhhh... thanks SGM!!!

Yeah I had a great time but just didn't get to meet up with everyone I wanted to!

My room mate was fantastic MLynn, and Geek also went out of her way to make sure I had a great time.

Geek...what can I say, when a girl is running around like crazy...there really IS nothing like a pedicure!. You rock!

oh and free laser pointers ROCK!!!!

I loved it when Hal said if we didn't all put the laser pointers away RIGHT NOW he was going to turn the conference around and take us all home.

THANK YOU KOOK!!!

On our flight back to Denver, I sat three rows behind Phil Plaiit and kept thinking, "Does anyone else one this plane (besides my wife and Dumb All Over) realize who that man is and what he has contributed to science education?".

And Phil sat up there thinking, "That weird guy from TAM is still following me."

Yes. Tobias (who is not gay) tried to get him to swallow Mr. Pinky. I saw the photographic evidence!

Also, did anyone notice a John Edward banner on the Strip, and then not notice it after about 6:00pm on Sunday? Keep an eye on YouTube. That's all I'm saying. ;)
