Warm Fuzzies About TAM6

- Phil Plait gave me a free copy of his book and signed it for me!

Full disclosure: I intended to give you a free copy. I went to Linda to pay for it a few minutes later, and she said someone else had already given her money for it!

I know it's the Amaz!ng meeting, but not only Randi fits the adjective. Lots of good, big-hearted people can be found there.

First TAM ever and I had a great time! (Noob on the forums, too.)

Meeting Penn & Teller, Randi, George Hrab, and others that I didn't know who they were until I saw them on the stage later totally blew me away. I only wish I had retained the ability to express my appreciation for their work instead of babbling incoherently when face to face.

Maybe next time...

Kat

ETA: Phil, your talk about the planets was excellent! I've never enjoyed hearing "we don't know" so much! It always makes me wonder if we'll ever know...

As I recall, at the pajama party when the Mr. Pinky's evil twin approached, you hid behind me as I stood alone to confront the beast.

Dang! I had that memory repressed quite well until now.

Well, memories are funny things...

Okay... that did happen.

But I got brave enough later and did a quick grope-- I did.

Scott Baio gave me pinkeye!

I enjoyed TAM 6 as much as I could. The only thing that sucked for me was that I was sick. For those of you that saw a woman walking around with very bloodshot eyes...that was probably me. I was not hungover...nor had I been smoking pot....as a teenager who videotaped me at the Rio suggested..I had freaking pink eye...plus the dry desert air was messing with me.

I know having pink eye isn't as glamorous as passing a kidney stone, but I did feel like crap and missed more of the convention than I would have liked and wasn't as social as I would normally be.

I may have met more of you, but I didn't catch your names. I would like to specifically thank the following people for speaking to me...or just saying hi..or letting me take a photo of you with a phallic toy...

And why would i want gals that aren't like you?

Who said anything about not wanting? :D I take great pride in leaving men stammering in my wake as I make my way through the room...of course, it helps mightily if alcohol is involved, but these days I take what I can get. Also: you're a smooth one, ain't you? :p

Did you sic the attack goat on the great beastie as it approached? Surely there's a cruelty-to-animals charge to be laid somewhere in that.

That well and truly sucks. Even though I'm sure it was more conspicuous to you than to anyone else by a long shot, it's still hard to go around meeting a bunch of new people when you're already feeling self-conscious. Next year, though.

Evidence??

I wish I would have met a few more people at TAM...renewing old friendships was great as usual...there is just too little time.

As always, my brain feels bigger post-TAM and I still have sooooooooooo much to learn...

I woulda spoke to you if I weren't just about the most hung up and paranoid dude there. I started introducing myself Saturday night, but by then... kinda late in the game. By Sunday I was actually talking to people sober in the plain light of day. :D

So delphi_ote was there? Sorry I missed him. He was one of the first people I "met" on the forum, and along with Complexity and a few others is one of the posters I find myself most in kinship with, even when we disagree.

Here are some key photos.

What a great group of folk to have finally met, albeit all to briefly in most circumstances and not everyone I'd hope to meat. I’ve always enjoyed the company of bright, interesting and eclectic folk and there was plenty of all that. Sounds like everyone arrived home tired but happy. Wish I’d had more energy for the evening activities, and it was great hanging out with CarlG who's still in Vegas a couple more days challenging the blackjack tables and the heat. I wish I’d had more energy for the evening activities… I suppose there’s always next year!!

Gotta second that mate, was the best (and hottest) time i've had in years. The poker and blackjack tables finally beat me down towards the end and i gave in :) I've only just recovered after being home for 4 days.

All-in-all, it was a fantastic time, roll on TAM 7 (and hopefully whatever the number of the one in the UK will be).
