complaints about TAM6

I have zero TAM complaints, but a couple about the hotel.

We're a co-ed roommate situation. The lady on the phone told me, months ago when I reserved the room, we'd have two single beds and two rollaway beds. Then we got here, the lady at the counter told us no, it's too many beds and a fire code violation, and couldn't understand why anyone wouldn't want to share a bed with three complete strangers. She really genuinely could not wrap her brain around that. We ended up with two queen beds, one roommate has a sleeping bag on the floor, and the fourth arrives tonight. We're still fighting for rollaways.

One Pepsi machine: $2.50 for 20oz. Next one down the hall: $2.00 for 20oz. Like Randi, I'm not a fan of the spirits.

The flamingo pool is gorgeous but it stinks like fermented penguin droppings. It's bad enough to burn one's nose. What's up with that?

Complaints about TAM? Okay. So, I show up and there's this guy on stage... someone named Tyson or something. What a total bore. I mean, yeah, people were laughing like crazy at his jokes and sure he had some definite memorable quotes and okay, yes he did get a standing ovation at the end of his talk... but besides being funny, insightful, and pretty much a brilliant speaker...

oh, wait a sec... there he is! Sorry, gotta run and try and get him to sign a book!

Seriously, you people who are missing TAM this year, aren't missing a thing.....

Well, okay... you really are, but I thought I'd try and make you feel better.

How does one get both Penn and Teller together in the same picture? I couldn't pull that off today, They were pulled in multiple directions and I just wasn't fast enough. Better luck at the Rio show tomorrow?

I got hugs from both of them regardless. And they signed my bible. I think I've got a crush.

Is there anyone else who finds George Hrab excruciatingly irritating?

......Is that part of his act?

I don't know about irritating, but I was underwhelmed by his short performance during the day session. Maybe he saved his best stuff for the evening (paid) performance.

Neil Tyson is an amazing speaker, which is totally appropriate for an even called The Amaz!ng Meeting. I've seen him a few times on TV and enjoyed his appearances, but didn't really apprehend the full extent of his charisma and brilliance until this morning.

Actually, the Flamingo was famous for its penguins for many years, until it gave them all to the Dallas Zoo. Apparently, the ghost of penguins past still pervades the air.

Sitting in Quark's bar right now. Too many forum members here.

pics to follow.

Over 60 of us here.

Not me. I think anybody willing to get onstage with a guitar and sing original material in front of 900 skeptics is exceedingly brave.

I have a huge complaint, and it's one of the coolest parts of this all. Trying to meet 900 people in one weekend is.... I can't even think of a word. I guess AMAZING would have to describe it.

Oh yeah, and a legitimate complaint. It's over.

I agree. Not to mention that I had a really nice conversation with George Hrab at the Garden Bar. Based on that discussion, I think I'll have to conclude that he's probably one of the coolest people I've met at any TAM.

Does anyone know where to get more of his music?

I think he's got an album out by the name of "Interobang", but when I google for it I don't get anything.

My only real complaint about this TAM was the food. The cafe was sub-par, and the buffet was sub-par, even for a buffet. I could not afford the other restaurants at the Flamingo.

That being said - I wasn't there for the food!

I thought that overall it was the most well-run TAM I've been to yet (4, 5, 5.5, 6).

My complaints? I didn't meet JoMadge or Wolfman. (or did I and you went by aliases?)

another complaint

I was in Vegas last week, for a trip we booked ages ago, but our flight out was set for Thursday, just as TAM was starting. Bother!
Still, proof positive there is no god, eh?
