Beaten to the "punch" again...
The vicinity may not be the best environment for debate, and certainly isn't one in which SOME people seem to be comfortable.
I won't plan the "you said" schoolyard crap. But you go right ahead. All you have to lose is the shreds of your credibility.
I reviewed the "terrorist fist-jab" and here's what some left wing blogger had to say: During the June 6 edition of Fox News' America's Pulse, host E.D. Hill teased an upcoming discussion by saying, "A fist bump? A pound? A terrorist fist jab? The gesture everyone seems to interpret differently."
And it goes on. Is THAT all you have, Fluffy? Omigod! Everytime McCaine mispronounces a word, the DNC, the Obama campaign, and MSNBC attribute it to altzhiemerrs or dementia. (That's an awful strategy, by the way, and will hurt him in November.) And from this scant and harmless statement, YOU THINK they're insinuatiing he's a terrorist? Give me a break.
Sometimes, I think I'm the only one here who knows the definition of a preposition.

Could someone translate this into English for me? The vicinity? Who are SOME? I assume that "plan" is "play", but otherwise this is gibberish.

gdnp, this is what I was replying to, written by the good Doctor Adquate, since you didn't chose to look at the post to whcih I replied. Yes, your steel-trap mind adquately translated the "plan" to "play." I only thank God you're not with MSNBC, or you'd attribute the misspelling to altzheimers.
By the way, the vicinity thing, it's called a "metaphor." Look it up.
And speaking of slime (we weren't, but I'm broaching the subject) have you seen the latest two ads from the Obama camp? REALLY bad taste and horrible judgement. Negative ads like this only serve to lower the temper of the debate. Disgraceful. I'm embarrassed for Obama, and only hope he didn't say, "I'm Barak Obama, and I approve this message."
Oh, and "lower the temper" is another methaphor, as temper is the process by which steel is made better.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought you were just misusing another word. You see, most people refer to the tenor of a debate, since "tenor" in this context means the drift or character of something spoken or written, and thus lowering the tenor would be easily understood as debasing the quality of the exchange of ideas.
Without your clarification I would not have realized that you were referring to the process of steel hardening. Lowering the temper...I guess here the debate is the steel, and the lowering is making the steel softer? Have I got that right? So he is making the debate softer, or less sharp, perhaps?
I thought about using "tenor" but didn't for three reason: first I can't spell tenor, second, what with all the "insinuation" charges floating about, I didn't want anyone thinking I implied Obama or McCain were tenors; they're not. But third, and most important, is that I didn't want to be like other people and use a hackneyed expression.

Moveon.org political action is responsible for the content of this advertisement." Moveon.org clearly supports Obama, but to label this as coming from the "Obama camp" is disingenuous.
You are entitled to your opinion, but I think this pales in comparison to the issue we are discussing, that of unsubstantiated claims of racism made against the candidate's wife.
doubtful. If it were to be done by Hillary, it would already have been done. The Republicans, however, would have an incentive to wait to release it until after Obama gets the nomination.
If Michelle had used the term "whitey" in a speech and it came out, after her denial, it would be suicide. I don't believe that she is that dumb.

That ad is by MoveOn.org, not the Obama campaign.
The existence of such a video is an internet rumor that is widely dismissed by right- and left-wing news sources alike, including Fox News (the subject of this thread.)

First of all, I agree that the ad is highly manipulative. That said:
(1) For you to give the earlier examples a pass yet throw a hissy fit over this ad demonstrates a remarkable degree of bias.
(2) As gdnp points out, it's as clear as the day is long in the dead of summer in Barrow that the ad was not created by Obama. And yet you blithely attribute it to him. It's that attentiveness thing again.

McCain has nothing to say he's sorry for on his war policy.
If Obama didn't authorize it, he should say so and distance himself from this slime. And I think he should, and likely will. Such trash will hurt him in the end, and unless he does, this will be seen as another clue he doesn't have a good grip on his own campaign.
As to HRC releasing the apocryphal video, you're wrong entirely. She'd already lost the bid for the nomination by votes and delegates. HER ONLY CHANCE is to win at the convention, as she alluded to in the reference to Bobby Kennedy, as in "if something happened." If she's got it, as I said before, she'll release it before the convention. It would be a trump card, and to play it too early, after she's lost the nomination, would be to give Obama time to rebut it. Releasing it a week before the convention, maybe two...that's dishwater tactics, and most likely would sabotage Obama's chances. And if he were somehow politically disabled, who's the next likely choice? One guess.
