McCain: What's this "LGBT"?

That's absurd!

Everyone knows homosexuality is a mental disorder

No, it's caused by alien nanobots, coursing through our veins. Soon we will acquire the Gravitic Tachyon Emitter, which we can use to send the nanobots aerially. Then Earth shall fall before the mighty pink robotoids of the Space Gays! Mwah hah hah!

I am not sure I have ever "heard" the term LGBT either, though I know it's meaning and have seen it in print. It's not out of the realm of possibility that if someone threw that term at someone who knew what it meant, but had not heard it spoken much before, it would have confused them.

Okay, I've been looking into it and it seems he doesn't support civil unions. He says he supports "Gays getting together and signing a contract about power of attorney, etc."

So yeah, he supports gays being able to sign contracts. He is such a maverick.

(Of course, you can't get everything that a civil union or marriage would get by signing some contracts)

Don't make assumptions about the old people. Some of today's senior citizens are the same people who were working for JFK's campaign. And more than a few "conservative" old people rear up and bite a candidate when he starts being anti-gay, because nice little old ladies sometimes have gay children and grandchildren. It's rather funny to watch the face of someone who took one step too far along the stereotype road only to find that Grampa unexpectedly loves God, guns, and the gays.
Or maybe Grandpa is bi-sexual or gay himself. I don't think the percentages have changed, people were just shamed into silence or sham heterosexual relationships.

Are you claiming to be my grandfather?

Because if you are Gramps or Grampy, thanks for the birthday money.

If you aren't Gramps or Grampy, you owe me birthday money.

The most important color in the LGBT rainbow is green.

In the context of grandfatherhood, I only claim to be a grandfather, but not specifically your grandfather.

Can we put the birthday money on my tab? You can come over for dinner, and I'll cook up some greens. I think there is some swiss chard in the refrigerator.

And how about that Senator McBush appearing on Ellen? His body language was about as uptight as a head-bolt on a V12 engine.

Kudos to him for going into the lions den, but his support for my right to sign a contract failed to leave a highly positive impression. He's not a bad guy at all, IMHO, but nothing about him makes me wish that he was President.

Well, I'd have issues with appearing on Ellen's show, too. I'd blurt out something about how her union is unholy and against nature. Not because they're both women, but because Portia is so far out of Ellen's league it's incomprehensible. Ellen's cute, in a perky kind of way, but come on! Portia's gorgeous. Even I'm a little bit interested.

I also think we should be building a lot more nukular power plants. Then we can use the depleted Uranium for artillery shells to kill people in the next oil-rich country that we suspect might think about wishing they had WMDs.

Um, nuclear power plants can use that depleted uranium as an exterior blanket to make more fuel, so let's not be so fast to shoot our energy supply at the enemy, ok?

It's only stupid US law that keeps us from doing that now. And no, it does not lead directly to lots of weapons-grade plutonium, the recent Sci-Am article or not.

A question that almost nobody has bothered to answer remains, but is for another thread.

I'm not surprised that McCain is against gay rights, he has to pander to the lunatic right in order to win.
