I hope this is not too risque for this subforum...
Two unabashed environmentalist-Christians-lesbians have been shopping around a summer camp for adults idea in North Carolina. The concept is to create a friendly environment for all types of people: straight, gay, bi-sexual, lesbian or transgender. The name they insist be used for the camp: Camp Lickalotta.
Why that name?
On the calendar last weekend was "Bushstock 08"
They had plans to open this Spring in Rutherford County, sharing space at an existing campground while they hunted for their own facilities. But, they and the campground owners received enough threatening calls and e-mails that they recently backed off that plan. Camp Lickalotta has a new home as of a few weeks ago in Northern Georgia, but they still say their plans are for a permanent home in Western NC.
OK, on the surface I find most of this hilarious. Lickalotta? Bushstock? Its like a Cinemax movie plot. But, there are some underlying issues that might be interesting to explore. Such as, why do people get so worked up about LGBTs that they feel they need to threaten and vandalize and scare them back into the closet? Also, why would any sane LGBT expect to publicize with no public backlash (deep in the bible belt no less) an alternate-lifestyle camp with a name that even children could associate with sex? The stupidity on both sides is amazing.
So, what do you think? Would "Camp Lickalotta" make it in your neck of the woods, or would they be run out of town as happened in Western NC?

Leedy said the name was chosen for three reasons. She said the goal of the camp is to: Lickalotta prejudice. Lickalotta pollutants. Lickalotta pessimism.
