Woo is beliefs that do not have any evidence for them whatsoever. Woo is astrology, ghosts, dousing, magical powers, and psychic powers for just a few examples of what we mean when we say that's "woo".

The question was "What evidence?". Asked in response to your statement "The evidence suggests that wooism is a predominantly female insistence".What was that question?
You are the one using the word "woo". I have been been using the word "superstition".I don't know what 'woo' is but I think it is a derogatory expression of contempt for people who believe in things which there is no proof to support such belief.
Superstition is like 'knock on wood' 'good luck' 'don't walk under ladders' and the like.
Nothing much to get upset about.
I did. The only mention of any "man/woman thing" prior to your statement that "the evidence suggests that wooism is a predominantly female insistence" was some cryptic silliness by maatorc regarding Articulett's "male forum counterpart" and her inquiries as to who that might be. This had absolutely nothing to do with your statement that evidence suggests that women are more superstitious than men. And your statement certainly wasn't a response to any mention by Articulett of men dominating religion (at least not in this thread) because as far as I can tell no such statement was made until after you claimed that "evidence suggests that wooism is a predominantly female insistence".The woo = predominantly a woman thing comment harkens back to something Articulate said about men being the predominant front for such woo things.
You might need to look back through the posts.
All requests that you provide this evidence have been met with evasion. I must therefor conclude that you made the above statement without any evidence. The evidence suggests that wooism is a predominantly female insistence.
Expect a true mathematics of mind-energy to emerge within one or two centuries, as distinct from the present cult-like belief system of pseudo skepticism that mind is brain for which there is no evidence.
I prefer the experiment where you add a purely chemical substance to the brain (I prefer a nice lager) and it results in a substantial alteration of the mind, effects which may include, but are not limited to:No evidence? What do you call someone having a stroke that radically alters personality? How do you account for chemical changes in the brain leading to emotional experiences?

Note that these mind effects happen by the action of purely physical substances on the brain. These results of these interactions have been extensively documented in medical literature and police records.
- Making your mind think you are whispering when you are not.
- Making your mind think you can sing and/or dance.
- Making your mind tell your friends over and over again that you love them.
- Making your mind think you have super-human fighting powers, resulting in you getting your butt kicked.
- Making your mind think people are laughing WITH you.
- Making your mind believe that old friends and ex-lovers really enjoy it when you call them on the phone at 3:30 in the morning.
- Creating the illusion in your mind that you are tougher, smarter, faster and better looking than most people, causing you to act like an moron, and/or causing you to get beat up, broken up with, or even arrested.
- Making your mind fail to record anything for large periods of time.
That's amazing! I too, have performed extensive scientific research--albeit with a different substance, Cannabis Sativa.
-Short-term memory gets shorter
-Attention now limited to fewer things, and easily confused
-Worries disappear
-Music pleases more
-It seems that those plans can wait--maybe 'til tomorrow. Why bother?
-What's the point of all those big words?
-I'm a sexy beast!
-I've just eaten an entire loaf of bread! How did that happen?
-tired, now. sleep.

The fact remains that you stated:
The evidence suggests that wooism is a predominantly female insistence.

You're new here so you probably don't know how many times this has been discussed. There could be many explanations, including that it is foggy there often, that you woke up briefly but don't remember it (many people do this without realizing it), or simply that it is confirmation bias, in that you remember the things that matched and forget those that didn't.On the subject of OBE’s and the experience’s I briefly gave – did you notice that my question as to ‘how did my brain know that it was foggy outside’ was left unanswered?
You clearly introduced the idea that women are more susceptible to superstition in post 308. Articulett responded to this in post 312 (note that her post comes after yours) by pointing out, quite reasonably, that most religions are, and long have been, dominated by male authorities. Prior to post 308 there was no mention by Articulett of any male/female role in superstitious belief at all. If I am mistaken I welcome you to link to the relevant post. You then made your "evidence suggests" statement.Conclude what you like.
The evidence is there that I was responding to Articulates comment about ‘Tom Cruise’ and men in general are the fronts for wooish organizations.
My response was an effort to balance Articulates statement.
Could you point that out please? I saw nothing that could be termed "evidence" to support your assertion. In regards to evidence to support my assertion that Woomen are predominantly the ones who insist on wooish belief systems – I gave my views on that too.
No. As I pointed out, you introduced the idea in post 308. If you wish me to believe otherwise then please point out a post prior to post 308 in which Articulett introduces the idea that gender effects tendencies to superstitious belief. That ball was played by Articulate and I threw it back to her. Then it was dropped but you picked it up.
Classic!
Are you suggesting that we are employing some sort of organized attack on you? That sounds a bit paranoid to me, or at least a form of defensive rationalization.Classic group methods of distraction.
This sounds like just the sort of extraordinary claim that could earn you $1,000,000 and assure your place at the forefront of the certain to be new field of OBE science. You are claiming that you have an ability that can access information otherwise unavailable to you. Are you willing to put your money where your mouth is? Are you willing to demonstrate this ability for the world to see? Will you take the Challenge and demonstrate this ability in a controlled setting? Otherwise, I'm afraid your claim can bear no greater weight than "I can dowse for gold", "I saw Bigfoot" or "I was abducted by aliens".On the subject of OBE’s and the experience’s I briefly gave – did you notice that my question as to ‘how did my brain know that it was foggy outside’ was left unanswered?
What stuff? The fact that you cannot explain how your soul can supposedly "see" while separated from your body, yet people are unable to use their souls to "see" for them after going blind. You hadn't thought of that, had you? Now that it has been brought up you seem reluctant to address it. If you had responded with something like "Hmmm... That is something I'd not considered before. I admit that it is a problem I will need to address before going on with my claim" then I would have been convinced of the intellectual honesty of your search for knowledge. Your determination to dismiss the issue suggests to me that you have decided on the conclusion you want to reach and are determined to select only that evidence which you feel will lead you there. You best stop using that stuff -
The brain is quite tricky. (Though Tricky is not The Brain). Why do you think you can be fooled by optical illusions? Why do you think you see colors when you rub your eyeballs? Why do two people remember the same exact event differently?Could be might have been... nice, but those examples seem to suggest that the brain is a trickster, (it is) tricky itself.
I don't make that assumption. Brains are capable of reason, and it may be one of their (many) functions, but certainly the "reason" switch is not something that is always turned on. Certainly not in dream fugue. For what reason? Intelligent reason.
(assuming that brains need to reason)
1...No evidence for "mind" being brain? Where have you been?
2...While we eagerly await this 'true mathematics of mind-energy' to emerge, is there any evidence for suspecting "mind" being some kind of natural cosmic energy? Any at all?

1. And what besides a magical idea of the universe would it be.1...Where, when, and by whom was it proven that mind is brain?
2...There is nothing else in the universe but mind-energy, of which all is an expression.
The brain is not an instrument, it is the brain, to say it is an instrument means that the two are seperate and/or can be sperated which they can't be.As the instrument of mind, alterations in brain functioning will appropriately alter mental perception, expression, and experience.
