The truther I talked to in Savannah this week used the ‘8 mile debris field’ in Shanksville as ‘proof’ that the Flight 93 was blown up in midair before it crashed.

Gravy addresses this issue here. The BBC Conspiracy Files 911 program interviewed Somerset county residents who found lightweight debris (paper, insulation) at Indian Lake one mile away (starting at about 30:00 in).

My readings indicate the debris found distant from the crash site was lightweight debris not what you’d find from a midair explosion. So is there any significance to the ‘8 mile debris field’ that would indicate anything other than a plane hitting the ground at high speed?

Donald Rumsfeld says the 9-11 plane was “shot down” in Pennsylvania here. In fact, we have tons of evidence that Flight 93 was indeed “Shot Down.” The News Footage shows the Shanksville hole is only 20 feet in diameter. So you believe it was part of the elaborate plan to stage a crash site near shanksville? Why???
I guess they took a back hoe out there the day before to dig the hole. Probably was the same guys who knocked down the poles by the pentagon. If they were going to stage it why did they make an "itsy bitsy hole" instead of one big enough to convince Terral it wasn't staged.
But then of course he would be saying look at that large hole anyone knows it should be smaller.

Why would they plan to stage a crash site? I am flabbergasted that anyone in their right mind could actually believe that ( I am not surprised Terral believes it though). They had to place the appropriate debris in the hole it had to look realistic for the first responders, they had to tamper with the dna evidence , stage the cockpit recordings , stage the phone calls etc ...

Regardless of the distances given, does anyone know of a photograph of that separated engine/engine part? The CT articles referenced said it was the engine core, A-Train said it was a 1 ton engine core, and the PM articles indicated it was a fan from one of the engines. There is more than a slight difference between these particular items from an engine. It would be nice to establish exactly what it was from the engine as well as the distance from the main crash site FROM THE BEST RELIABLE SOURCE.

I'm only interested since I can't find a reference on Gravy's site and this needs to be put to rest.

From memory the newspaper article that mentioned it cited someone as saying they estimated the part weighed about 1,000lb. I have always assumed the "1 ton" claim was a result of Conspiracy Theorists not understanding the difference between "pound" and "kilogram" and "ton" and "tonne".

1,000lb is of course less than half a ton.

OK, I watched it and it was stupid. The "smoking gun" is that there was a long dark mark on the ground in 1994 near the crash site (but not exactly on it)???

It is also claimed, that the call by Ed Felt, where he described seeing some white smoke, is identification of a shot plane. Felt made the call at 9:58. At that time the plane was at 5000ft. What makes this claim very suspicious, though, is the fact that a couple of minutes later the plane once again climbed to 10000ft, before it crashed. Would a plane that was shot down climb another 5000ft for a few minutes after being shot, before crashing?

In any case the story has now been discredited.
