The answer is: No.

I asked Chief Nigro about this, and he was kind to respond very quickly. What he said was basically this:

I am well aware of Mr. Silverstein's statement, but to the best of my recollection, I did not speak to him on that day and I do not recall anyone telling me that they did either. That doesn't mean he could not have spoken to someone from FDNY, it just means that I am not aware of it.

He also once reminded again, that as we all know, he would not have needed the approval of Silverstein to make the evacuation order. So, whoever Silverstein is talking about getting the call from, it is NOT Chief Nigro.

An interesting twist to the story. Wonder what the truthers are going to make of this :)

 
I've put up a disclaimer at my video concerning the Silverstein statement.

I wonder if Frank Fellini or someone connected to his part of the work called him. Fellini was keeping people away from 7 for five or six hours (before noon). Nigro made his decision at about 2:00.
 
So you mean Silverstein could be lying? Gee, that was one theory all along. The guy was covering his a**.

He might have thought he was providing a plausible explanation for the sudden and complete collapse of a bldg, a block from the towers, which wasn't hit by a plane. Silly Larry.
 
...by...claiming he spoke to someone...who he didn't speak to...and ordering them...but he wasn't speaking to them...to blow up the building...which was being evacuated because they were worried it might fall all on its own...???

Anyone else following this anti-logic?
 
This actually makes the demolition theory even worse (can it be any worse), since Nigro says it was his decision and he was not even in contact with Silverstein at all. So Silverstein or his opinions had no effect in any possible way.

Who thought they did? Silverstein's story always seemed preposterous.

Let me rephrase it.

What transgression is Larry Silverstein covering up by telling this "lie"?

Please don't sit there and tell me that the "truth movement" hasn't believed that Silverstein "gave the order" to demolish the building.

I did answer the question. I said he was attempting to provide what he thought was a plausible explanation. Just because I didn't answer in a way which you expected, please don't keep rephrasing the question until you get an answer you think you can debunk.

Since I don't have a hotline to what the "truth movement" believes, I'm in no position to say what the monolith thinks.

I have never, ever thought that Silverstein was giving an order to demo. I've always thought he was lying when he told that whopper of a story.

Just out of curiosity, what do you think Silverstein was supposed to say? He's the person that has great interest in the events but absolutely no control. In an interview wouldn't he try to make himself out to have some kind of say? Who reasonably would question him saying he was involved in the decisions?

The whole interview to me seams like someone trying to convey an appearance of control over a uncontrollable situation.

Has Silverstein ever claimed that he spoke specifically to Nigro, rather than merely a representative of the Fire Department?

Which theory states that in making his "pull it" statement, Silverstein was lying?

THe question has grown more ridiculous. What transgression? I don't know, but the idea that he would get a call from the fire commander and then make the decision to either "pull" the crew who had left hours earlier, or "pull" the building is ridiculous.
