The case against Dr. Paul

I personally don't know whether Pearl Harbor was an LIHOP/MIHOP type incident, but I find it plausible given our history. From a skeptical point of view, I just don't know.
Lots of things are plausible. But that in itself means nothing. You need actual evidence to arrive at a reasonable conclusion.

In regards to Pearl Harbor, your first step should be to go read some good books about the subject. I point out again: without Admiral Yamamoto, there is no attack on Pearl Harbor. So unless the Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Japanese Navy was in collusion with the United States government, LIHOP/MIHOP is already on very shaky ground. Then when you add the rest of the known and verified information surrounding that day, LIHOP/MIHOP theories are utterly demolished.

Japan conducted a successful suprise attack on the United States. Military history is filled with examples of successful surprise attacks.

Ron really put the spurs to 'er in Maine, after all that talk of him actually winning something he was blown to pieces in another 30 point route.

You come here telling us black is white and up is down and are surprised when we ask you to justify your claims? And then you invoke the good name of Chomsky as if he wouldn't also laugh you away as the crank you so clearly are?

I am also amazed that somebody who is such a supporter of the free market and hater of big government would endorse Chomsky, who makes no bones about the fact he is a Militant,(I would say Marxist) Socialist.
Of course expecting common sense from a crackpot like dash is silly of me.

Sounds like garden variety puberty to me.

It does, except dash, from his photos ,looks to be around 30 and should have grown out of that a long time ago.
When you are around 20,thinking you know everything is normal behavior.
If you think the same around 30,something is wrong.

Quite typical of those that are convinced they are smarter than everyone else but are not.

This is a forum where intelligence far above average is near the norm. It is hard for a lot of people to defer to someone on a topic where that person has a great deal of interest and emotional investment. It leaves three choices:

1) Become more detailed and objective in your study and analysis, begin to back things up with facts and be helpful in the discussion. Maybe learn something and change your mind.

2) Go sideways, let your emotions cause you to be blind to anything that contradicts you and become the very picture of the frustrated child, unable to appreciate opposing argument and data.

3) Let it go, try to learn something.

This is a forum where those in (2) are not going to fool many people by claiming to be (1). Dash was an absurdly obvious example of this...

Do you all realized that the last several post were spent maligning an individual?

You have made his point!

:D :D :D

Feeling :boxedin:

Thought #1:
I would recommend people here study the works, debates and videos of Noam Chomsky. There is a man who could crush every one of you dust-mites. An enormous amount of his material you would almost certainly label as "woo". He's a very, very intelligent and wise man.

He is indeed. I majored in linguistics in college and studied some of his work. I'm not familiar with any of his ideas, though, that would qualify as woo. I also very much doubt that Chomsky believes in channeling or in crackpot physics hypotheses. Why did you even bring him up?

Which JREF Forum are you on? Who on this one has EVER said that?

It is often implied, for example, on this thread. Apparently "there is no chance" that our government knew about an upcoming threat with Pearl Harbor, but our numerous coups d'etat in South America, the Iran-Contra scandal are all duly ignored.

More directly, no one ever said that, but it seems to me that people are skeptical around here only when it benefits their agenda or argument.

In my opinion, that's the very definition of a cult. Wildcat's cult, of which Tokorona is a part of, is the very definition of hypocrisy.

My tone in the previous post is a bit strong, and I'd like to apologize for that.

Now now my young cultist, no need to apologize. Have some more Kool-Aid and we'll discuss the miracle of the comet some more.

Actually we respond to evidence and facts. For example, this North American Union that Ron Paul wets his pants over. Is there any evidence at all that there is any government or even a government official supporting such a thing? Maybe you'll be the first Ron Paul supporter to name one!

I actually don't give much credence to a MIHOP scenario. So your last paragraph is not so relevant in my case.

Then when you add the rest of the known and verified information surrounding that day, LIHOP/MIHOP theories are utterly demolished.

There is always more reading to do. My ignorance on this issue precludes me from taking a firm stand. In the meantime, skepticism should be my standard position.

Criticizing the NAU is fine. My complaint is your exaggerations on other issues and your inflammatory comments mixed with disinformation.

Is there any evidence at all that there is any government or even a government official supporting such a thing?

The SPP has similar intentions to those ascribed to the hypothetical NAU.

Maybe you'll be the first Ron Paul supporter to name one!

Maybe I already have; not that it matters since it's not my contention.

Maybe you should check out a few sub-forums other than this one. I see plenty of criticism of the current administration around here.

:dl:

Why is it always the Ronulans that have no idea at all what the SPP is all about?

The SPP is a White House-led initiative among the United States and the two nations it borders – Canada and Mexico – to increase security and to enhance prosperity among the three countries through greater cooperation. The SPP is based on the principle that our prosperity is dependent on our security and recognizes that our three great nations share a belief in freedom, economic opportunity, and strong democratic institutions. The SPP outlines a comprehensive agenda for cooperation among our three countries while respecting the sovereignty and unique cultural heritage of each nation. The SPP provides a vehicle by which the United States, Canada, and Mexico can identify and resolve unnecessary obstacles to trade and it provides a means to improve our response to emergencies and increase security, thus benefiting and protecting Americans.

You seem to assume I think it is something else.
