Three things are indicative of hoax at the Miakka pics (leaving aside the phony "granma's backyard" tale)....snip...More on the Myakka Ape (and costumes) can be found in the JREF thread "How long before this becomes a bigfoot sighting?" An idea that didn't occur to me at the time was that "Asian costume" that's supposed to match up with the "skunk ape" is of the Indonesian/Balinese type. I also did a post here in which I linked to a video using a mask that had some similarities to the Myakka Skunk Ape.
1. That leaf in the mouth... It does not changes position relative to the mouth, seems to have been glued.
2. The "eye reflections" of the flash, despite the changes in perspective, they remain the same, suggesting lamps inside the mask.
4. The expression seems to be the same at both stills.
And here's an alternate reason for making an orangutan-based creature hoax: Since orangutans are the closest living relative of Gigantopithecus blackii and since Gigantopithecus is suspected by some to be Bigfoot...
...snip...
Something, BTW, that may quite as well have been the reason why BBC used a costume with red hair... Despite the complaints from some PGF defenders about the long shaggy red hair, its closer to the "pongid look" than Patty itself.
Not to mention that many a bigfoot description have only "hairy and bipedal" in common with Patty.
