Bigfoot - The Patterson-Gimlin Film

...snip...More on the Myakka Ape (and costumes) can be found in the JREF thread "How long before this becomes a bigfoot sighting?" An idea that didn't occur to me at the time was that "Asian costume" that's supposed to match up with the "skunk ape" is of the Indonesian/Balinese type. I also did a post here in which I linked to a video using a mask that had some similarities to the Myakka Skunk Ape.
Three things are indicative of hoax at the Miakka pics (leaving aside the phony "granma's backyard" tale).
1. That leaf in the mouth... It does not changes position relative to the mouth, seems to have been glued.
2. The "eye reflections" of the flash, despite the changes in perspective, they remain the same, suggesting lamps inside the mask.
4. The expression seems to be the same at both stills.

And here's an alternate reason for making an orangutan-based creature hoax: Since orangutans are the closest living relative of Gigantopithecus blackii and since Gigantopithecus is suspected by some to be Bigfoot...
...snip...

Something, BTW, that may quite as well have been the reason why BBC used a costume with red hair... Despite the complaints from some PGF defenders about the long shaggy red hair, its closer to the "pongid look" than Patty itself.

Not to mention that many a bigfoot description have only "hairy and bipedal" in common with Patty.

Regarding- 'If Patty is a man in a suit, then the suit would have to be the greatest suit ever created'

1. The view of Patty is tiny, because she is so far away, the magnification of the frames we look at blurs the fur to an extent. It is so far away and the camera so wobbly, that the fact that we see the flaws that we do is amazing.

2. If the Patty suit was brought to a proper filming stage with proper lighting and cameras, I'm sure even more flaws would be evident. Imagine the wrist band, if it was shot close up with a static camera mount, and a full set of lights. I think it would be blatantly bad and an obvious costume.

3. Harry from Harry and the Hendersons, is considered by most Pro-PGF as evidence that Patty is real, because in the movie, the costume doesn't look 'real'. It has obviously long hair to cover seams. However, I believe that if the Harry costume was shot under the same conditions as Patty, the results would be far better than what we see with Patty.

In Conclusion, I would like to say that the Patty costume is considered by Pro PGF's to be Great simply because of the poor shooting, the distance of the shot, and the camera, combining to make Patty just good enough for some people to think it is real.

Do most bigfoot believers believe Patty and the PGF are real or do they believe that bigfoot is real but Patty is a bloke in a suit?

Is the PGF still their smoking gun of bigfoot evidence?

Drew,

What about pointing those who complain about Harry's alleged lack of realism to one of the final scenes of the movie, were a number of bigfeet come out of tree shadows? What about comparing that sequence with PGF?

Do most bigfoot believers believe Patty and the PGF are real...

Yes.

...or do they believe that bigfoot is real but Patty is a bloke in a suit?

Some believe that.

Is the PGF still their smoking gun of bigfoot evidence?

It seems that way. All of the significant pro-Bigfoot authors and public Bigfoot promotors since 1967 can be counted as pro-PGF.

Try naming a high profile Bigfooter who is anti-PGF.

CN-
Do you have a clip from that scene? I don't know what scene you are referring to.

"Houston......we have a problem"... :),

Actually, Bob Heironimus and his "believers" have a problem.

Here are side-by-side comparisons (properly scaled, though not exactly-aligned vertically) of Bob H. and Patty's skeleton, as determined by Vision Realm....

The problem is....Bob H. does not have nearly the chest width that Patty does.
How was Roger able to increase Bob's chest width by the amount needed....with padding....and still have Bob's arms able to hang down straight?

That Roger was a true master of the suit....wasn't he??!

See above for just one reason why people who think there's a reasonable chance Bigfoot exists also think there's a reasonable chance the PG film shows one.......Bigfoot. ;)

Here's the best I could find online:
Check the 33" mark at this scene montage:

Harry goes back home and rejoins his family.
Classic sighting, where every shadow hides a bigfoot LOL. Or perhaps the bigfeet are phasing to our dimensions...

Looks close to scaled to me .. Vision Realm's skeleton is only 5' 7" ....

Are you good with that ?

P.S.

Sweaty,

Please provide the source material you used to determine Patty's chest width ..

We will be waiting..

Come on guys, don't you know anything? In pro-bigfoot science all data must be assumed, it is the one constant, it is the law, der!

m :bike:

Did Vision Realm ask for a full X-ray of Bob Heironimus' skeleton? Has anyone? Does everybody have to work from an old snapshot of BH leaning on his Corvette? Is anyone even curious about Bob's own IM index?

Oh that's right. When Bigfooters produce programs for mass media they don't even like to mention BH. They don't even like to say he claims to be Patty but cannot possibly have been her. It's too dangerous to even bring up. MonsterQuest never mentioned BH. They did say that numerous people have claimed to be in the suit. That isn't true. Only Bob Heironimus has publicly claimed to have worn the Patty costume. He stands by that claim. There is nobody else, and there never was anyone else who made the claim that they wore the suit.

At a time when both Bigfooters and BF skeptics are calling for more science and more factual accuracy towards the "Bigfoot Question"... we have people who should know better telling the world that numerous guys have confessed to being Patty. You could say that they are just repeating what has been said by other Bigfooters. Well, when does the passing-on of falsehoods ever stop? It starts to look like intentional lying.

Can't Bigfootery really get serious even when it knows and says that it must get more serious?

It does the job, William.

What's the matter.....don't like the comparison?? :D

All the photo tells me is that he didn't have the pot belly when he was young. He had a cool car too.

Maybe you found a way to look at him in that shot and say he wasn't Patty.

I was browsing through the " Monsterquest ' Mouth' " thread over at BFF,

http://www.bigfootforums.com/index.php?showtopic=21498

and decided to finally take a look at what they were talking about..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFUD1EoET1M&feature=related

Check about the 3 min mark ..

They claim that enhanced digital images show details of the face and muscle movement..

They are enhanced alright... With a pen fer chrisake !

monqust2.bmp

Then we have Owen Caddy saying the film must be real, because the makers of the film couldn't have imagined it would be subject to such scrutiny 40 years later ..

What a riot !

Drew, keep em' honest over there ...

That's what I was talking about with the goofy drawn cartoonish face. Look at the ear in the right image. It's almost the size of the entire face.

But when you check that ear in the Dahinden Frame 352 Cibachrome it just looks like furry nothingness. Like the fingers, the ear is never properly resolved enough to allow us to say what it really looks like.

Halle-frickin'-jujah! I just in the last few days have sat through multiple watchings of the Monster Quest episodes (thanks for the link, WP) and while I was watching that episode air raid sirens went off in my head when 'cryptozoologist' (any zoology training?) John Kirk came on and gave the smug delivery of the 'all the guys claiming to be in the suit' line. BS meter BOOM! One wants to stand next to the cryptozoologist with a megaphone on 11 and shout "Names, please!" This is bigfootery perpetuating itself on lies. Think of all the poorly informed BF fans that were listening to Kirk and nodding along saying, "Heeey, yeah!"

Another greased eel I liked was Chris Murphy stating matter-of-factly that everyone who has really gotten into the PGF thinks it's real.
