Baghdad, Iraq: It's snowing in the city for the first time in memory.

Clearly...evidence of out-of-control greenhouse warming of our Mother, the Earth!

This is just as bad as people who say "Oh it's global warming" every time it gets warm in the winter. What they have is a near-useless anecdote, and the same goes for what you have said.

Global warming != It can't snow anywhere warm ever

More energy throughput increases the width of the swings of the pendulum. Period three implies chaos.

You might want to google up all the articles on it, pretty much most of which explain it, so you don't say anything else foolish. How many times have you heard, "climate is not weather?" Apparently not enough.

FFS! How many times do we need to explain this to you...

But...that is EXACTLY what you AGWists do...claim that every bit of "unusual" (please define that?) weather is proof--PROOOOFFFFF!!" that Global Warming is real and more, that humans are its cause.

By the way...whatever happened to those Central American frogs that were "near extinction!!!" because of AGW?

Hello?

Hello?

Is this thing on?

It seems that you’ve conflated climate and weather.

Really?

Is that what it seems to you?

So...in 2005, when you and other AGWists were shrieking that the hurricane season of that year, spitting out a never-before witnessed number of cat-612 'canes, was proof--PROOOOOFFFFF!!!--of GW, and more, that it was simply a taste of what lie in store for us in the future, that was not conflating weather and climate and was not making a hysterical, fearmongering prediction?

Hmm....

Live and learn, live and learn....

There is controversy over whether the climate change that we are witnessing is partly (or wholly) man-made or is part of a natural change that has been observed in the Earth's past.

You seem to be claiming that global warming is not occurring at all. Even the U.S. Pentagon is seriously considering the effects of global climate change. How right wing does someone have to be before they accuse the Pentagon of falling for left-wing propaganda?

I used to know this guy (sadly gone now) who was in Baghdad during the 40's, and he made a point about how bloody cold it got out there in winter but they weren't issued any cold-weather gear. It's long been cold enough over there to have snow, but what it's generally lacked is the moisture that's a pre-requisite. (There's a rain-shadow cast by the Lebanese and Judaean mountain chains, available for view in any geographical atlas.) Snow in Baghdad is a sign that there's more moisture in the air, not that temperatures are surprisngly low. Given the heatwave over the eastern med last year it's not terribly surprising that there's more moisture over (downwind) Baghdad.

So there's snow in Baghdad, but is it particularly cold in Baghdad? The two are not synonymous.

Have you any evidence of shrieking? On Par's part or anybody else's? Your posts are definitely shrill.

Such shrieking is the product of a communal imagination (of which you're part). Those of us who understand climate change don't make any such claims, and of course we're comfortable enough with reality not to be shrill. I don't give a toss about hurricanes. Very much a side issue, and unpredictable. If they were predictable something would have been done to protect New Orleans, after all.

I'm not even sure how many Cat 5 hurricanes hit the Gulf of Mexico last year, or how unusual the hurricane season was.

So you admit it's political, not scientific. BTW I know what causes global warming.

The data seem to indicate it is far more scientific than political. Numbers on a thermometer don't have political bias.

I chose the phrase to make a point that Tokenconservative would understand.

Local weather is not global weather and neither is climate. It is a small aspect of it.
While I disagree with you muchly, this is too simpleminded for you so I've got to assume you are trying to be funny.

If I say something, you can't argue against it by pointing at a completely different group and saying "But they do it!". You'll just send the conversation in circles.

Did I say anything about frogs? No.
What the heck is an AGWist anyways?

Let me repeat myself: one instance of cold weather does not disprove global warming. One instance of hot weather does not prove global warming. The weather has too high a variance for that sort of technique to work.

Tell it to the glaciers rube, and you'd better hurry or you'll miss them.

While you're at it, break this news to the American Pika and tell them they're not losing habitat because it snowed one day in one place.

What the heck is an AGWist anyways?

Denier verbiage. "AnthropogenicGlobalWarmingist". In the same weasel league with "Darwinist" or "Evolutionist."

The data time period for global warming is far too short to draw any type of realistic conclusion. Those non-bias numbers on the thermometer haven’t really changed in the last 10 years. Does that mean global warming is over, or is that too short a period of time to draw such a conclusion?

Global warming has morphed into a political/cult movement, and the new Messiah is Al Gore. If you can’t see that, then you powers of observation must be questioned. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Global Warming Party on the ballot in the next few years. Arguing about global warming is pointless. You either believe or you are skeptical about it, and I thought this was a skeptic message board. Why are the skeptics bashed on a skeptic site? Could the answer be because it is, in fact, political?

10 years? What?

The flaw in your argument. http://www.realclimate.org/index.ph...y-noise-and-the-art-of-model-data-comparison/

Who cares about what Al Gore thinks?
