I agree that the consequences of accepting such a criteria of truth are bad -> a cult leader might say that if we think he is wrong, it is because we do not have enough faith, and then exploit all of us.

But, arguing that the consequences of accepting a certain criteria for truth are bad ones is not the same as proving that it is a bad criteria for truth.

It might be indeed that prayer works only if you have pure faith.

I note that you have avoided addressing the posts that requested you support your claims regarding homosexuality being a choice and that religious treatments work.

Theology 101: If you are confronted with a question that requires you to back up your false claim with evidence, avoid said question and throw out red herrings until the opponent gives up.

I never said that homosexuality actually is a choice. Someone argued that there are no motives for it, and I suggested promiscuity. Not the same as arguing that it is.

As to treatments of homosexuality, I don't have any. Simply hearsay.

A bad criteria might be easier to state. It is hard to win when nearly every 'fact' proferred is contradicted by reality. (except when a willingly credulous audience eats it all up)

No, if the theory is that only pure faith is answered, and if your prayer is not answered, then your faith is not pure is untestable. But it still might be true.

And it still might be wrong. You have no way of knowing!
 
Well, if a person believs this, what would you say about him?

You cannot say he is wrong, because you cannot know that. So, how can you say that his views are without merit, if you cannot know he is wrong?

Since no one on the entire planet, through all of history, has ever been shown to have the ability to pray with efficacy, it would seem to be about as likely as the proverbial teapot in orbit around Mars.

To be clear, there is not a single scrap of evidence that prayer is anything more than wishful thinking and a mountain of evidence that indicates the opposite.

The bible is excruciatingly clear on how effective prayer should be. Reality flatly contradicts the bible.
