• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

Proof of God

No, you didn't post a problem of origins 20 pages back either.
Here is how this particular exchange started:
As I say, an incomplete enumeration, not a problem of origins.

No, this line of enquiry started with Belz, but I could never get more than further questions or one-liners from him so, much later, I tried to get Paulhoff interested (not seriously, though, as he is difficult to engage in serious conversation)

Nevermind though,
BillyJoe.

Talking about a so-called god and being serious, it is like being serious about Harry Potter and other fictional characters, there is a limit until it becomes silly.

People, who know me, know me to be too serious sometimes and straightforward on what I have to say and not holding back my punches. Maybe if you stop reading into what I have to say and take it straight on you would be not so confused about what I am saying, I guess that never accrued to you.

:) :) :)

Goddamn, I could've sworn I put a smily in there. :D

(better stop hastily posting over lunch)

Well show me what I have missed. Show me where you have posed a problem of origins.

20 pages.
No, I'm not doing it.

Sorry. :(

(Belz, if he is still around, may be able to confirm it and you can then take our word for it - or not! :) )

So you are saying you did pose a problem of origins, but the problem is spread evenly across 20 pages. It can't be summarised?

I have read those 20 pages and you have nowhere posed a problem of origins (in fact you have pretty much repeated yourself for most of the 20 pages). If you had posed any problem you ought to be able to state it.

Thanks, Belz, I knew I could count on you to back me up. :)

Yes, I stated that there is a problem, but I pose it now as a problem in search of a solution. ;)

It would help if you would, in fact, pose the problem as such - that is, that you would directly state the problem in as many words.

I have been picking up stones and looking under them, no so-called god so far.

The problem is to try to guess what the problem is.

To state it clearly, the proof of the existence of an eternal deistic God is that the existence of God solves a problem, but we do not know what problem God solves.

Uh-huh. 42, eh?

EITHER it's something from nothing OR time without beginning.

Either way, with our present knowledge, it is impossible to explain existence.

I find it hard to think why you might have said such a thing...

....unless....

....unless you too love reading them!

I'm going to take that as a compliment! :)

Thanks for proving my point. The fact that the only reason you can see for my statement is that _I_ love your posts shows how enamoured you are with your own mind.

Either way, with our present knowledge, it is impossible to explain existence.
