All right! Another Bubblehead Nuke! Even if you were an MM, you're okay!
I tried to get assigned as an ELT in prototype, but they weren't taking EM/IC very often for it. I only knew one EM ELT, when I was on the Pollack.
BTW, I was in the next-to-last class to go through Nuke School in Bainbride, MD. Went to D1G for prototype training in New York.

My bubblehead experience is limited to towing the EX Lewis and Clark (SSBN-644) from Groton, CT to Rodman Panama (Order of the Ditch x3 Booya!) on it's way to mothballs at Bremerton.

Captain (ret)
USS Czar'ak
NCC-1798-A
Starfleet Region 6

I was rejected from actual military service. I applied when they could afford to be choosy (late 80s). I do have many relatives and friends from the vairous branches ranging in rank from US Army Corporals to a US Army Major (and veteran of two wars). My favorite is my Uncle Spud, who retired a MCPO and served on two Enterprises in WWII and later CVN-65.

Quick list - please check for errors/additions

OK, I've collected the postings so far. This is unsorted and unformatted; I'll fix that up later.

I would appreciate it if people can review the list and PM me corrections (or post, if they prefer - PM may be preferable to avoid cluttering the thread).

Your comments in the posts have been omitted here for brevity; they'll appear in the "official" list.

Note that I do not know military jargon, so it's highly probably I've messed up rank, affiliation, and/or service dates. Apologies if it's your service I've messed up.

Names, if given, are after the rank.

Rank, if given, is the final (or current) rank, if I can glean it from the post.

Future posters: I would appreciate it if you could start your posts with three lines:

Thanks for the list. It's awsome.

Two anecdotes:

1) Iraq invaded Kuwait 2 days before I graduated Corps School. Every corpsman in my class and subsequent classes who did not have a C-school (advanced training) went to Field Med Training and onto Saudi with a marine unit. Fortunately, I got pharmacy technician school.

2) We were in the air flying to Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia the very night they started Desert Fox in 1998. We had to turn the cabin lights off on approach on account of they could shoot us out of the sky. How sweet that was.

I think the OP meant real military experience.

<ducks>

Touche!

Haha. No offense taken.

I almost feel guilty listing it since it was such a cushy job and time. Hell, at 19 I was training other grunts that just came from training at Keesler. We were so overstaffed that I didn't work more than 2 out of 4 shifts...about 16 hours a week.

It WAS rough. And, after 4 years I was only an E-4 Sgt but that was OK with me because at E-5 you had to be a crew chief which meant you worked every shift.

But, unlike Korey, I do have a DD214 with and honorable discharge.

Hey, without you guys, we wouldn't have a reason to do our jobs! Or, in my case, sit at a control panel for hours while boring holes in the ocean!

I grew up in Gulfport, my dad was an SCEO (Senior Chief Equipment Operator) assigned to a Seabee battalion there. I spent a lot of time in the exchange and hospital at Keesler during the mid 70's. I still have a nice scar on my chin from when I had 4 stitches put in there.

That boring, huh? :D

I just realized - according to Malcom, you'd be in zero-gravity. Must have been fun floating around inside the boat, huh? :boxedin:

Hey, I get it! That's why the names for the space program, right? Mercury - because mercury is a liquid, right; and Gemini because that's the water bearer in the constellations... Apollo (no, not Apollo20, go back to your other thread Dr. Greening) though... must have been to put the sheeple off the scent! Yeah!

I've cracked the CODE! The Space program was HOAXED!

Back to serious stuff. Here's a sample of a couple of formats:

Alareth (Mark C. Farrington)|
Rank|OS2
Affiliation|U.S., Navy
Service|91-99
|
  • Prior to making rate I served on deck as a seaman and was also crosstrained in various rates such as Radioman, Signalman and Quartermaster due to the small size of my first command, USS Recovery ARS 43.
  • As an Operations Specialist I operated various models of radar from the SPS-64 navagational radar up to the SPY-1 Phased Array that is integral to the AEGIS Combat System.
  • My last command was the Pinecastle Electronic Warfare Range in Florida, which was the only location on the east coast of the US where pilots could practice with and drop live ordinance.

Unsecured Coins (Jaye Powers)|
Rank|SGT
Affiliation|U.S., Army
Service|1994-
  • Started out in the Reserves as a supply puke. Since the great state of Florida lost part of my transcripts from NC I had to redo my senior year, thus when I graduated in 1996 I was the only AIT trained soldier to graduate that night. Woo hoo.
  • After 9 months in the Balkans I went AD in 1998, hooking up as a 19K, Armor Crewmember. I still hold the record for most ridiculously impossible AGTS kill when I popped a BRDM-2 from over 4,600 meters away.
  • Average Table 8 score - 942
  • Trained in every weapon I can get my hands on. Qualified sniper.
  • Currently (surprise!!) a recruiter in North Carolina

I prefer the second layout myself; anyone else have any preferences?
