Anyone on here someone who can interpret legalese? Military legalese at that? *G*
Forfeiture of all pay and allowances? Does that mean he has to pay everything he's ever earned from the Army back? Or does that mean just from the point of desertion (plus signup bonuses and stuff like that)?
As a non yank with zero military experience, could someone fill me in. Korey will be tried by a military tribunal and not a civilian court yes? Can he be bailed in the interium before his case is heard (I Imagine not), and what concievable sentence are we talking here? Served where? Stockade? (I've not used that word since the A Team was on) Civilian Prison?
Just curious.

That said, my comment on the matter is this.
If deep down Korey felt he was fighting for a war he didnt believe in, then he had to make a moral choice. Desert your fellow soldiers and your duty that you pledged to, because you feel the cause goes against your beliefs, OR stay and fight for a war you do not believe in, because your sense of duty overrides this.
He chose, and he chose knowing the consequences. Now he should pay for his crime, as per a military courts decision. EOS.

I see your point, but he had other options. It is still possible to declare yourself a conscientous objector and the military will respect that (that's not to say your fellow SOLDIERS will, but... *chuckles*). There are numerous other ways he could have gotten out besides desertion, ones that wouldn't leave such a stain on his professional life. And yet he chose this way. The coward's way. I'm honestly curious as to why, myself. I hope we find out a bit more about it in the ensuing weeks.
Exactly, and it's no surprise he ended up in the truth movement. I'm sure he felt quite at home with all the other cowards....he chose this way. The coward's way.
It used to be the Army had so many quality recruits that they didn't need losers like Rowe and readily dismissed them. A different story now, of course. He could end up in Iraq, and that would probably be the worst punishment (from his perspective).

We just talked to him.
He's fine. He'll be home safe and sound in a week or so.
Thread closed. Make all the "censorship" and "twoofer" jokes you want.
