Mike Nifong Disbarred.

Oh yes, why didn't I see it. This was all a liberal conspiracy. Riiiight.:D

Good one but I think your post belongs in CT.

n., pl. -cies.
  1. An agreement to perform together an illegal, wrongful, or subversive act.
Precisely what the radical Marxist Gang of 88 and registered Democrat votor Duke Pres. Brodhead did in creating the hostile climate, firing a completely uninvolved coach, wrecking an athletic season and disbanding a sports team and forcing out of the school which they'd PAID to attend innocent people WRONGFULLY accused of heinous crimes, as well as demonizing white male members of the University community. All at the instigation of ANOTHER lying, hypocritical registered and self-confessed DEMOCRAT Mike Nifong in his attempt to maintain his power.

These are the FACTS. And you know it.

Given all of your premises does not prove that there was a liberal conspiracy. I would gladly concede that liberal ideology influenced actions but nothing more.

They signed the "listening" statement. They personally affixed their actual names to the document which did more than anything to create the entire horrendous situation on campus. The document is the proof extant of the conspiracy.

To the extent that there was a conspiracy it wasn't a liberal one. Liberalism was largely incidental. For what it's worth, it wasn't seen as wrongful to the group of 88 so it can't be said to be a conspiracy. Intent and forethought are requisite. That the purpose was public in nature belies the notion that they believed it wrong. Ever wonder why conspiracies are done in secret?

No way, RandFan. If these 88 people Plus Brodhead PLUS Nifong were citizens under a creed different from that of the founding creed of the the USA, their rush to presume the LAX'ers guilty rather than innocent could be said to be understandable.

In this case, they deliberately banded together formally as well as informally to destroy innocent lives in willful violation of the deeply American presumption of "innocent until proven guilty" standard.

This took forethought, malice aforethought, and deliberate breeching of the social/political/legal standard that we have as our FIRST right as an American.

No. They simply acted in mob fasion to speak out against a perceived wrong.

If the rape had happened and the perpetrators had videotaped thier crime (as others have done) I would have joined the group of 88 in their condemnation.

The problem is that these individuals were innocent and the group only believed that a crime had commited and acted without any basis to act. Common in todays society BTW (see OJ Simpson and Mark Peterson).

No. Prosecuting a rape case has nothing to do with political correctness. Prosecutorial misconduct has nothing to do with politics; abusive law enforcement agents - be they police officers or district attorneys - cross party lines.

Consider that Nifong was in the midst of a reelection campaign at the time. Though such zelous misconduct crosses party lines, I would not preclude political consideration as a motivator in these actions.

Not to be construed as an endorsement of other contrary views.

Fixed that for you. It is about the only thing I learned from Benny Hill. There was a sign that looked odd because the letters had become separated in the middle. Before he pushed them together they read,

Peter Hardiman
The rapist

That is sooo Benny Hill ... I miss him, even if he isn't considered by some as funny. Sure the name wasn't Peter Hardman? :)

Actually, I just made up the name. I just remember it was something filled with innuendo.

As to the actual topic, I cannot see that the professors at Duke did much more than overreact to a situation that had been presented to them as a "slam dunk". They were guilty of doing what almost everyone else does when they hear a media story; Judging before all the evidence is in. I do not believe this is a syndrome that is unique to Democrats.

But who was it that helped root out the truth and reported on it every step of the way? Oh yeah. The liberal media.

I would say that politics was at the core of his motivation, he was doing this to further his political career. He is a politician doing immoral things to further his career, why does this surprise people that politics where involved.

Now there was nothing that was party or position specific, but political goals where behind this.

Bravo to the system that finally worked....though as one of the alleged rapists himself said in an interview I watched: they were fortunate (beyond being innocent) that they had supportive families and the means to hire top flight counsel that could fight their battles and show the abuse of the prosecutor.

Sadly, there are innocent people going to jail all of the time in this country because of zealous prosecutors who get away with it by withholding evidence and counting on the incapacity, inabilit of the defense as well as the inability of poor clients to pay for adequate defense.

I am glad these kids found justice. I am ashamed that my first reaction was to think they probably did it (though having worked in the courts, I generally found that most defendents who made it to trial probably did it...), but we should keep this case in mind the next time DNA clears someone who spent 20 years in jail for a crime they didn't commit.

It isn't about liberal or PC conspriacies...it is about prosecutors who want to get re-elected or elected regardless of parties. On the one hand, that is a great check and those prosecutors are responsible to the people, on the other hand it makes winning everything and the innocent will/do suffer.

The Secret Meeting of the 88:

Setting: The Barnhill's Country Buffet by the Mall, not the other one by the campus

Number1: Greetings Komrades! Welcome to our secret meeting to ruin the fortunes of these young men accused of gangraping a young black woman.
Number 46: Could someone get one of the servers to refill my tea? Its been 15 goddamn minutes.
Number 4: Yes, these capitalist whore waitresses aren't dispensing the tea equally to all patrons. We should stage a protest!
Number 1: Perhaps but first let's discuss these young men. Number 5, have you contacted your willing accomplices in the liberal media?
Number 5: I told you once already, I dated this chick who works at the Duke Coupon Cutter. She said they don't run political stories.
Number 46: Dammit, they refilled with sweat tea when I specifically asked for unsweet!
Number 1: Well, our willing accomplices in the liberal media have failed us once again.
Number 60: I have an idea so shocking it may chill you down to your red colored marxist homoerotic bones. We shall purchase an advertisement!
All: Robble robble robble

one of the players had been hired by JP Morgan, but the employment offer was rescinded when Comrade Nifong pressed charges.

Don't worry, a rich daddy always save the day.

Those guys weren't rapists, but then they weren't "nice boys" either.

No doubt, you're about to explain how you know these things.

The players settled with Duke today....anybody want to guess on how much it was for?
