To understand the 'divine' issue one must first make a distinction between Jesus and Christ.
Jesus was the man and Christ is the 'inner light' of a divine consciousness.
As such, all humans are 'children of God' except that, for most, the inner spark is in a relative condition of atrophy (a seeming death). In Jesus (interpretating the story) the divine spark ignited and disintegrated (See, Last Supper as a metaphor) the human animal based ego upon which that spark was 'crucified' (as a metaphor). So, it seems, that Jesus was the first person to 'awaken' (divine illumination) to our true nature... which, it seems, is sparks of God that have gotten themselves into a jam and have been devoured by their animal based forms (body) and have anmesia about their true identity (which is 'contents' and NOT 'container').
