By all accounts, it looks like German intelligence 'misled' the Bush administration to believe that Saddam did indeed have mobile weapon labs. Only 'after' the fact did they say their source was unreliable. In fact, both Tenet and his deputy director said they had NO knowledge that Curveball, the INC defector from whom the Germans got their intelligence was unreliable.
In a VOA interview, Tyler Drumheller says the German intelligence service, the B.N.D., shared Curveball's information but never allowed U.S. interrogators to personally question him.
