Just in this thread, there's the "Ziggu-stein". Way back in something like 2003, you made some comments about my nose. Or the time you told me to go to "my" Israel. Then there's the strange obsession you have with neocons , which you think I am.

I'm not playing victim, though, because I'm not the victim. I'm infinitely better at hurling insults than you are, though you doubtless lack the sensibilities to appreciate them. In general names that finish with stein are German.

Many ethnicities in Germany took German names that finish with stein to assimilate themselves better over there.

U.S. people are mistaken when they identify stein (like in rocker Bruce Springsteen) with Jewish identities.

Names finishing in stein are typical German names, that many ethinicities adopted, but U.S. people are mistaken that they are Jewish.

Like in English, names finishing in son.

Johnson, for example.

In Romania, many names finish in escu.

Is that anti-Romanian?

Actually all these parts can be from german origins...

-mann, -burg, -berg, -lich, -stein, fein-, -baum, -t(h)al, [SIZE=-1]Eisen-[/SIZE], Rosen-, -feld and so on ...

[SIZE=-1]But in certain settlement areas, these endings could also refer to Swedish and Russian Jewish backgrounds.[/SIZE]

I think you can add wishful thinking. I think the fantasy of a democratic Middle East was a major part of the motivation. I think they thought they could start a "domino effect" of democracy in the region, which would be great for everyone - if it weren't a pipe dream. You can spread totalitarianism at gunpoint, but you can't force people to be free.

Indeed they are. And unlike some of our allies (Germany), they're not just in Afghanistan, but actually willing to fight. But Canada's political leadership has indeed left them far weaker militarily than they could be, because of a concious decision they made some time ago to move away from first-responder capability for peacekeeping operations. And this showed up quite dramatically during the tsunami aftermath, when their emergency response teams (who are trained for exactly that sort of relief work) couldn't even deploy because Canada had no airlift capability to bring them to theater.
