The Money Masters

"ive always felt if there is in fact a secret society controlling the wolrds monetary systems they sure picked a piss poor way of doing it, how are they in charge when every individual has control over his or her own finances?"

Control? You mean the "choice" between rent or buy? If you rent your throwing your money down the drain and if you buy you are going into debt for 20-30 years on average.
Kibbutzim? Assigned living quarters? Free-for-all land-grabbing? Communes? Teepees? What is it you are suggesting exactly?

Nothing will change until we change ourselves, but ousting them is necessary once that occurs.

"The American system is the most ingenious system of control in world history. With a country so rich in natural resources, talent, and labor power the system can afford to distribute just enough to just enough people to limit discontent to a troublesome minority. It is a country so powerful, so big, so pleasing to so many of its citizens that it can afford to give freedom of dissent to the small number who are not pleased. How wise to turn the fear and anger of the majority toward a class of criminals bred - by economic inequity - faster than they can be put away, deflecting attention from the huge thefts of national resources carried out within the law by men in executive offices."

-Howard Zinn

I'm Canadian, so I guess I'm OK then?

The other options are?

For someone making $50,000 a year, why is it that it takes them 20-30 years to pay off a $150,000 house? Why not only 5 years or so? You aren't going to notice the change instantly...but do you think millionaires take out loans for houses? Imagine that you pay off your house in 5 years instead of 30, how imagine all your children doing the same, do you think after several generations you would need as many loans? The average American earns what 1-2 million in their lifetime? How much of that goes to pay interest or is immediately taken away from the government as income tax?

I'm not advocating communism or government assistance in any manner, all I'm saying is maybe life would be a little better for everyone if money was used to enhance their lives, not define or enslave it.

So basically you have a grudge against your government because you can't pay a house, so you blame this all on a mystical all-powerful world cabal.

Got it.

So...
Housing subsidies? Artificial price ceilings? Interest-free loans? WHAT ARE YOU SUGGESTING?

the trick is paying more then the minimum amount due

that doesnt really answer my question, what other options besides rent or buy would there be in your perfect world?

I'm talking about the average American, not myself. Unlike many others I'm not egotistical or elitist and maintain some ability to care about others outside the confines of my little world.

Why do I need to present a solution for anyone to understand the problem?

That's meaningless gibberish. Those are subjective descriptions you're assigning to an objective resource. It's up to the individual how they view the role of money in their lives. Doing so does not address any real-world, systemic, money-related problems, such as poverty, predatory lending, the national debt, skyrocketing healthcare costs, etc.

Why do I need to present a solution for anyone to understand the problem?
You don't. Being able to suggest possible solutions, though, demonstrates that you understand the problem.

What makes you think we on this forum have an elitist attitude about money? Or that we have no sympathy for those in poverty or who struggle with finances? Or that we have no understanding of systemic money-related problems? It's a baseless assumption.

What is the problem exactly?

A select group of people who have been secretly controlling the world for centuries?

1% of people own 50% of the wealth and 50% of people own 1% of the wealth? Uh....yeah I would call that a problem and yeah I would call 1% "a select few"

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a monied aristocracy that has set the government at defiance. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs. "

Thomas "Tin-foil Hat" Jefferson

but that doesnt mean they control the world, and while they may control a majority of the worlds wealth they dont control mine

BTW, you can pay a 150,000 home off in 5 years, just ensure you pay 2500 to the principle each month

You can find it at your local library, go read it and perhaps you will be able to better engage in argumentative discourse with others as. The fact is, you knew what you were going to say before you even saw what you were commenting on--you aren't thinking you are just acting on instinct based on your preconceived notions.

persoanlly i dont think this is about being slaves to any financial system, i think its about people who want to live outside of their means and go into debt to do so
