Don't Vote

Damn: B. What really sucks is that I many of my wrong answers were not the result of not knowing, but rather the result of accidentally choosing the wrong answer. I suppose that is all the more reason for me to not vote.

The only change I would make is adding the answer choice "no one of any importance" to most of the actors' answer options. Being able to recognize Madonna or Paris Hilton should not in any way determine one's political literacy.

Seems like a rather dumb test to me. Face recognition as a requirement for voting?

So, being able to correctly identify Paris Hilton and Christian Agularia (sp?) should be a requirement for voting?
Maybe I’m just bitter because I got those wrong.
Actually, although I have some sympathy with this site, it does seem a little off base to determine someone’s knowledge of policies based on their ability to recognise faces, rather than link positions to names. Especially as few, if any, ballot papers or voting machines display pictures of the candidates.

Which explains why you voted for Pat Buchanan instead of Al Gore in 2000.

And yet, well-educated people (I include Ladewig and Upchurch in that group) only get B's (I got an A, BTW - missed one person and that person's occupation). Imagine how badly someone who only casually follows the news would do.

Or Stevie Wonder, for that matter.

I didn't know who the Prime Minister of Israel was.

The purpose is to tell if people can differentiate between government figures and celebrities. While knowing that Martin Sheen is an actor has no influence on your political literacy, believing he's the President of the United States certainly does.

I would agree that if someone did not get a decent score I would be worried about them voting (though I think the amount of TV one watches would have a big impact on a positive score), but I don't think a passing score "qualifies" one to vote. Where are the questions like, "was there a significant link between Iraq and 9/11?"? Looked like a lot of neocons, and pariahs to the right (Michael Moore... Hillary...).

I scored an, A (94%). I missed Mitch McConnell, and the poll would not accept "I don't know" for Paris Hilton's title, and I only got Rush right because "drug addicted sex tourist" was not one of the choices, so I had to guess. Must have been lucky on that one.

Man, I get my news from the radio, newspaper and the internet, so I didn't know what Frist or Renquist looked like. It never occurred to me that I'd have to pick them out in a line up.

I don't follow the news casually, but I am someone who only follows printed news. I am proud to say I don't recognize Paris Hilton and can't spell Christine Agularia. When I read the paper, I skip over those sections.

It is not important that you recognize the faces of politicians either, since they don't put their faces on the ballot. As long as you know what they have said, you'll be able to pass yourself off as "well-educated".

Yeah you're right. if you went by that stupid test, no blind person could vote.

You scored 340 out of 350 possible points, or 97.14% Grade: A

Missed one job question, I don't know for a couple others.

I scored an A...317/350

I didn't know who Ban Ki-Moon was (ok, that's sad...he's pretty important), and didn't know John Boehner's and Mitch McConnell's occupation.

Got Harrison Ford, Madonna and Christina Aguilera right, though!

You scored 201 out of 350 possible points, or 57.43%

Instead of voting, you should consider moving to France.

It's cool Darat, so long as you got Tony Blair, the rest were of dubious difference: is politics any more than entertainment anymore, in America?

JFK Junior put out a magainze on the premise that it wasn't, called "George."

I don't watch much TV news, so I rarely recognize faces in the news.

I did see a youtube clip of Valerie Plame a couple days ago. Wow.

A - 94.29%, 330 out of 350.

Who the hell is Tony Snow, and what does he do? So, John Boehner is U.S. House of Representatives, Minority Leader.

BFD. ;)
