I was looking for pictures of Darwin the Robot on Google Images and I found this image:

Darwin_as_monkey.gif

I clicked it and it led me to a gold mine of fundie nutjob material.

In the page, you'll see some images along the right. Click them to see the comics.

My personal favorite:

Anybody else thinks there's a hint of anti-semitism here? I mean, the teacher is obviously Jewish. And the "good little Christian boy" is blonde (you know, Aryan).

It's truly precious when he has the instructor "on the ropes", and then flatly asserts gluons are made up with no evidence (yet, which he leaves out conveniently.) So the instructor asks how, and with a straight face, the kid starts quoting the Bible on why the atom is held together.

Foosh! No clue whatsoever. But it's not about logic or intelligence. It's about deceiving the ignorant to extract money.

Way to go with that stereotype, Mr Godwin. :p

I tend to agree with your "nutjob" assessment in general, however.

I would say yes

The first time I came across this guy was when I used to play D&D

ROFL.

Also, there's a comic I found that's even worse than the one you just posted:

He is? What specific characteristics indicate that?
The stereotypical features.

This isn't about money. Jack Chick sincerely believes this garbage, I think.

Also, anybody know: Aside from the Constitutional issues, is it in fact ilegal to teach the Bible or creationism in schools?

This does not make much sense. The constitutional issues are why it is illegal to teach creationism in schools(well we will see if this continues with the conservative swing of the supreme court)

The stereotypical features.

I do easily see how the male characters that Chick hates are often portrayed with a fiddle-shaped body (feminizing them and making them appear lazy), but I really don't see that as a Jewish stereotype. What specific stereotypical features appear in this cartoon that make the professor appear to be Jewish?

Look at the last cartoon frame in the orignal post.

Now go to http://www.pzg.biz/poster_poison_mushroom.htm

Scroll a little way down. You will see a picture under the "Der Stürmer" heading a of cartoon figure who is meant to be a 'classic' (Nazis 'classic' that is) Jewish man.

It is a judgement call - but there does appear to be a lot of similarties

I know two trainee teachers - both are homosexual - one in canada one in england... Are the US concerned about gay teachers????
Same people as these, mostly:

(Stupid physicists. Don't they know that Jesons mediate the strong force?)

Did anyone else think that the evil/stupid teacher character looked distinctly like the sematic cartoon figures in fascist propaganda. If anything that is the most unsavoury feature of the lot.

I presume these aren't the pro-israel neocons then...

I still diodn't get the point of the cartroon:

Paraphrase.

(What about, this is the evidence that there is another force stronger than electrostatic repulsion...)

What is their preferred solution? The noodly apendage? The love of god?

I could have you jailed for that
(teaching creationalism)

Irony?

Scopes monkey trial?

Do you think these people would like to [url=http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a3_341.html]to legislate that Pi is three?

I'm guessing you got a little hot under the collar when you saw that panel with the tall blonde-haired student towering over the arrogant, ignorant Jewish intellectual.

Well, I do know enough history to find it pretty unsavoury; do you think the student could sing "tomorrow belongs to me" in that scene in Caberet?

Jim

I'll stop cross-posting, but there was some quite relevant stuff on that thread...

Here is a chick tract praising Kent Hovind...

From a purely artistic point of view, I find it interesting that the propagandaist made the feet very pointy and included little highlights on the shoes. That, combined with the spats, very much gives the impression of cloven hooves.

It is a judgement call - but there does appear to be a lot of similarties

I'll concede that it is a judgement call. Most cartoonists that use Jewish stereotypes include a large, hooked nose. Because I didn't see that in Chick's cartoon, I didn't think the professor was intentionally drawn to be Jewish. On the other hand, the blonde student standing taller than the professor does highlight the differences in the two.

Jim - couldn't see any refernce to Kent in that link, however it was a fine bit of propaganda :)

I liked the part when Timmy prays 'so the devil won't get him' and 'if you believe in eveloution you are going to hell'

Man, these things are hilarious and sad at the same time. I love the DnD one. It's surreal. What a crazy, anti-semetic guy.

COME HERE, NOW WE LEARN REAL MAGICK, QUICKLY, TO THE ENORMOUS PENTAGRAM. BRING YOUR OWN ROBE.

I don't know what it is about the art style, but I find it distasteful. Mabye it's just the word balloons. They look like they were erased and new funny text put in the place of the original text. It's probably the font.

Reminds me of the "machine code" meme.
