Buzz lightyear and the JREF Challenge

Hey Belz , since Wilkapedia is the approved source of info for this forum , this is what they say about dose tollerence .
No they don't. They say nothing about it..

Probably a good thing to answer your other queries is for you to do a bit of sensory deprivation , like a float tank or similar .

See if you can be alone with yourself . Then you will start to understand that your perception of the world exists in your head .
Well, as long as you're here, we won't have to worry about nonsensory deprivation.

Quote ; "Like other physically adictive drugs, nicotine causes pathological down-regulation of the production of dopamine and other stimulatory neurotransmitters as the brain attempts to compensate for artificial stimulation. When nicotine exposure ceases, the neural changes it creates in the brain and body are unpleasant."

What on earth does a nonexistent Wiki quote on nicotine have on your original statement in Post 542 on dose tollerance[sic] of endorphins?

And yes I realise that we all rely on endorphins for pleasure , but if their production is artifically induced the body becomes reluctant to produce them naturally .
Also dose tollerance means that the use of the artifical stimulant has to increase with all the adverse side effects that follow .
These are two totally different chemicals that affect the body's system in equally different manners.

I suggest you read this definition from Wiki. It's a classic usenet tactic.

Is that what Buzz was saying? (I have him on ignore) Man, he's trippin'!!

It was about 50 vials of HGH (human growth hormone) that they found on Sly. I don't think there was a box to tick for that on the entry declaration card... ;)

How's that for coincidence? I threw one of them away only hours before posting yesterday.

But, I'd say the box entitled "Goods that may be prohibited or subject to restrictions, such as medicines, steroids, firearms, weapons of any kind or illicit drugs?"

I think his advisors should have read the guidelines on the form!

"All drugs and medicines, especially products:
  • containing substances which are prohibited without a permit (these include narcotics, amphetamines, hallucinogens, barbiturates , vaccines, anabolic and androgenic steroids, growth hormones, and erythropoietin [EPO])
  • regarded as performance enhancers in sport. "
You can imagine the shock I felt when I found out Sly's physique has been augmented by the use of chemicals.

Hey Klaymore , I do pretty much the same thing as in the movie except I use sound to create an energy field .
And I dont do it in a float tank , I use a dragons egg .

But the result is pretty much the same , contact with a primal part of my being . Except in this case it is a couple of hundred metres long with scales and wings .

If you really want to feel shocked, watch "Rhinestone". Bring barfbags.
Too late!

What kind of energy? Heat? EMR? Can this energy field be detected by instruments, or is it, like so much of what you propose, imaginary?

And I dont do it in a float tank , I use a dragons egg.
I assume you mean a geode, which are sometimes popularly called "dragon's eggs". Hint: They aren't really eggs and they aren't really from dragons.

Making it at least ten times as long as the largest flying creature ever shown to exist. Not to mention, flying creatures are not a part of human heritage, so it is not primal to you, unless by "primal" you mean "stories you have heard".

Having an imagination is one of the hallmarks of sentience, Buzz, but the inability to distinguish imagination from reality is one of the hallmarks of insanity.

Wikipedia is not MY approved source. It is only one of many.

I'm sorry, I kinda like my senses. Instead, why don't you show that you know what you're talking about and answer my post ?

See if you can be alone with yourself . Then you will start to understand that your perception of the world exists in your head .

Utterly ridiculous. That would be solipsism, and it only corresponds to observation if you make a number of baseless assumptions. Namely, that, somehow, your "imagined" reality would be entirely consistent, as this one is, unlike, say, your dreams.

You might want to consider quitting whatever it is you're taking.

Is that what Buzz actually said? In full? Just a sec, let me see...

[reads ignored post]

:dl:

Buzz, you are SUCH a hoot! :D

Oh well. I think we are done here. I know I am. Goes to show: We DO have nutters here in Oz! Really GOOD ones too!

That sounds hard to test. Have you submitted an application? Any thoughts on a protocol?

Obviously no test could be done on what Buzz is visualizing, however, the first step of "using sound to create an energy field" might be fairly easy to test if Buzz could tell us what kind of energy he is creating. There are detection devices for all known types of energy.

Good point, Buzz... You don't really have to produce a dragon (although I imagine that would qualify as paranormal). If you could produce a measurable energy field not normally attributable to a human being, that would probably do it.

Or, while in dragon form, can you see things that are going on outside the testing area? For instance, could you see someone in the parking lot holding up a sign with a word on it, while your human form stayed seated in a room?

Remember--and this is one place where I think the JREF has been more than generous with applicants--you can pick which ability you think is easiest to perform, and as long as appropriate test protocols can be agreed upon, and you can pass the tests, you're home free.

The greatest frontier that man can explore is his own mind . To do this requires unique and powerful tools .
Like all powerful tools , they can be lethal in the hands of the inexperienced

Am I the only one to get visions of someone accidently stabbing someone else with a spliff?

I'm fairly sure inexperience is really not a problem for most drugs, it's only once you start getting lots of experience that they can cause problems.
