PS Audio Noise Harvester

No, I quit school when I was 14 years old. Afterwards I learned more on my own in a few months than 8 years in school. You need to have freedom to use your own mind.

This must be some new definition of "learned" that I wasn't previously aware of.

Let me see if I have this right. You listen to MP3s on headphones and consider yourself an audiophile?

:seroflmao:

Wow, I missed that one.

That's my entertainment for the day at least.

Well, so much for Mr. McGowan being an engineer.

As I mentioned on the PSA forum, you just need a spectrum analyser program capable of a cross fft. If you do any serious work in audio, you have the tools and know how to use them.
Scam artists talk a good line, but fall down flat on the technology.
Guess where I place Mr. McGowan and PS Audio?

When I did my tests using SMAART on the NH he responded with its not a fine enough test. AND he didnt know what a FFT was!

Now I see he responded to you that you can see the NH work on a spectrum analyser and that its simple to see on a scope. When I asked him why we could not see it work when we placed it on a scope he said you have to have the right scope and set up in a custom way and he couldnt be bothered to tell us how. And now he says you can see it on a spectrum unit?LIES.

Here is a link to the movie of my noise harvester test.

It will be up in a bit. Waiting on utube.

I'm listening to my audio system using mp3. The improvement from tweaks is 10+ times bigger than the difference between 192 kbps mp3 and wav.
If your tweaks were working you should be finding MP3 becoming less acceptable to listen to. The better the sound your system is capable of reproducing the more it will reveal the difference between CD and MP3.

I use MP3 in my car. I rip discs at 320kps (with LAME) and use them because they sound fine in the car, it's convenient and I don't risk my CDs. I suspect that my car has a better sound system than you are using.

What is doing the MP3 decoding? I have found a huge difference in decoder quality with most being okay some being quite poor. Mplayer is the best sounding MP3 decoder I have used on a PC. My Panasonic DVD player does a good job and so does my car's Alpine head unit.

I tweak my system. I just tweak things that matter. There is more to be had from room treatment and speaker position than wires. As long as the wire is suited to the task (adequate guage) it's fine. I have a dedicated circuit just for the power amp which is probably a more effective tweak than any power cord but then I don't use headphones so my amp has to work hard.

I will admit that it can sometimes be hard to tell the difference between CD and MP3 on anything but the best gear. Like I said, if your tweaks are so good you should be finding MP3 less acceptable to listen to.

Dude, you can't even hear the truthiness of those Valhalla cables and mp3's (choke, larff) without one of these:

Me too...some of the technobabble here is just too much fun. I feel like reading Hitchhiker's again.

glenn:boxedin: --still looking for the true physics.
Oddly enough I did just start reading it again yesterday. Sometimes it's just better to let the cares of the exploding world just wash away with the nonsense of the twoofers.

Personally I think ES is just pulling legs. He's the one who put rocks on his head in a jar, right? I mean, seriously...now he's saying he dropped out at 14? He's seeing how little a sense of humor most people might have on this forum is my guess.

And I just started listening to the radio series again!

Weird...

This could be some type of psychology project for a sophomore college class. Throw some technobabble around a bunch of engineers and scientists and see the reaction. ES probably has some sort of logical fallicy quota to fulfill for statistical accuracy. Or possibly the moon will suddenly leave orbit soon due to a repeal of the law of gravity.

I'm tending to agree. It's almost impossible for anyone to be that stupid and be for real. I'm no longer responding to ES unless it amuses me to do so.

hmmm for some reason, I can't go back to that thread on PSAudio. I can go to other threads in the forum, but when I try to go to that one I get a message saying "technical difficulties"

That, my friend, is a real test. Nice work.

Are u teasing? Sory I am new here so I dont know all you guys yet.Not one of the PS drones thought it was valid. They had a field day over the fact that I was on the kitchen table. The fact is most of them and most of the people who buy that stuff dont listen in a anechoic chamber.

By the way Paul deleted the thread but our friend theapet started another titles naughty naughty.

That is the most retarded test I have ever seen in my whole life. He is using a laptop computer with a noise generator and 1 speaker. Where is the audio system? The Harvester affects the power supplies of the components...

The Harvester wasn't even blinking. My first 5 Harvesters were DOA (damaged in shipping).

That guy put a microphone to record the speaker? There is no way anybody can be that stupid. He bought the Harvester just to make that video, he is just craving for attention. His plan was to show the video to PS Audio in the first place. Like osmosis said, he trolls at PS Audio forum just for fun.

EDIT: I was wrong, somebody can be that stupid (I accept all possibilities...). They need to be locked up in mental institution.

It's the opposite with me. The better I make my system to more acceptable mp3 gets because the extra muddiness doesn't bother me as much. If there is muddiness from the audio system + muddiness from mp3 then it bothers me.

I haven't heard your system so I can't say.

Headphones show the source instead of add room coloration...

I heard a difference between 320 kbps mp3 and wav on crappy gear 2 years ago when I was a newbie. I thought the difference with tweaks was smaller than that so I spent a lot of money to upgrade the mp3's. For a year I had mp3 phobia. But then I listened to mp3 again and heard the truth, the mp3's sounded better than ever. Now I use them as reference tracks for my tweaks.
