"Jesus Camp" Now Available on Google Video

But there are public schools that teach the students how to use condoms. And from what I've heard public school students have been taught about anal sex.
Why is it wrong to teach children about sex? We teach them about eating and exercise, too.

I think you would find that a lot more than 2% have secular motives for homeschooling, and as many as 50% these days might list the opportunity for religious education as one of many reasons for homeschooling. I think sex, drugs, low academic standards, and a general lack of discipline would be more common reasons for homeschooling. These days.

Yes, I know, I wasn't serious about the number. :)

I don't have the numbers for home schoolers who chose to take that route because of religion, but 50-75% would probably be a decent-ish ballpark guess.

Our Public schools teach young children how condoms are used. Why shouldn't Christian parents be allowed to send their children to a camp that teaches their beliefs and the beliefs of our twice elected president.
uh.... Bush is a Methodist. Jesus Camp is about charismatic Christians.

Saying they have the same beliefs would be as wrong as saying Thomas Jefferson was a Christian.

What's so horrible and frightening about the religion of the twice elected president.

The religion? Nothing much worse than any comparable Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, or whatever. It's when his religion drives his policy that's the problem.

But Jesus Camp is not about Methodists, it's about rabid Pentecostals. As fundy as Bush is, he doesn't interrupt his press conferences to start speaking in tongues.

Although, now that I think on it, that might be an improvement.

And the religion that Thomas Jefferson basically said had the greatest set of moral laws that humanity has ever known.

I'm guessing based on this and your other contribution that you really have very little familiarity with Jefferson or his views on the matter.

MTV indoctrinates, but in a sublter way. Are you against MTV, also.

MTV indoctrinates people in really bad music. So yes. :)

Direct question: What have you heard that public school students have been taught about anal sex? Is it your position that to learn about something is to engage in it?

Not unless you count his attempts to pronounce difficult words. *rim shot*

And pointless whining and general unfounded angst. Don't forget those important topics.

Public school students do learn about anal sex.... like STD'S can be transmitted through anal sex and thus is not a safe sex method.

But don't you realize... abstinence-only education is the pure, Godly way to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases that has a 100% effectiveness rate!

Oh, wait a minute, I accidentally put up a link to the APA abstract indicating that abstinence-only education is less effective than comprehensive sex ed. Silly me.

To Mr. Upchurch,

Well, I saw the film. And one of the charismatic Christian instructors brought a life size cardboard cut-out of the Methodist Bush to the lecture and was praising Bush in front of the children. I would have to say that was an endorsement of Bush and his beliefs.

And Thomas Jefferson making donations to ten different churches with his own money while he was president could be considered an endorsement of Christianity.

So, they like Bush. Does Bush endorse them?

or a shrewd political move.

I sent an email to that woman taking her to task for the nonsense she's teaching those kids.

There's an HBO special called "friends of god : road trip " that's much like this documentary . it's on demand if you want to watch it

Pat Robertson tried to explain that they were just really enthusiastic about Bush, or something. I don't quite understand how the response was meant to refute Jesus Camp, but lately, Pat's been losing it.
