LOS ANGELES - Grainy video footage of paramedics working on the unresponsive body of Anna Nicole Smith turned up on the Internet and on German television Friday a day after the sudden death of the former Playboy model in Florida.

The brief video, shot by the Los Angeles-based Splash News and Picture Agency, captures Smith being wheeled on a stretcher Thursday from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Paramedics can be seen pumping her body as she is lifted on to an ambulance. One paramedic is seen operating an oxygen pump. She was pronounced dead in the hospital but the cause is yet to be determined.

Splash said it had sold the rights for $500,000 to a buyer it declined to identify. The footage showed up on several Internet sites and on German’s RTL TV channel.

Splash news editor Paul Tetley said he expected the footage to eventually fetch about $1 million.

There is very little information available about at least one of Trimspa's main ingredients: Hoodia gordonii. It's a plant that has been used by indigenous South Africans for its appetite suppressant effects. I saw some reports of potential liver toxicity and interactions with medications but no real studies one way or the other. A Pfizer rep in one article is quoted as saying that her company has done studies on Hoodia and is quite concerned about the evidence they uncovered for potential for liver toxicity, saying that people should be "very wary" about consuming products containing the plant. Again, however, I couldn't find any published studies. In someone who appeared drunk much of the time (and admitted to problems with alcohol), any small threat of liver toxicity could have been magnified by her habits.

The daily dose of Trimspa contains the equivalent of two to three 8oz cups of coffee a day (depending on what "dosing" regimen you choose). Depending on how many other stimulants (coffee or otherwise) a person consumed, this could have a negative impact.

Trimspa also contains naringin, a grapefruit extract, which can interfere with the metabolism of a huge number of prescription drugs so much that toxic levels may result. Some of these are sedatives (like valium), antidepressants, methadone, caffeine (already in Trimspa), estrogen, proton pump inhibitors (like the popular "little purple pill"), many popular diabetes meds, epilepsy meds, antipsychotics, blood pressure meds, HIV meds, cholesterol meds, cocaine. I could go on, but you get the idea.

Who knows what else she put in her system that could have interacted with Trimspa? Of course, in her case, she may have had any number of the above meds/drugs in her system with the Trimspa (likely candidates are in bold above), so what was really at fault? She certainly didn't treat her body well - with or without Trimspa.

Anna Nichole Smith, or rather Vicki Lynn Hogan didn't just die, she has been being consumed by the 'industry' for years.

I feel bad for women like her, not unlike the way I feel towards protitutes...

I just want to swoop in and 'save' women who are being used for their physical attributes, mostly because they don't have the intellgence or self-respect to stand up and say "No thank you."

I have heard many compare her to Marilyn Monroe, and I even did it myself. Maybe Anna thought of herself the same way, and this was a suicide, this way she stays young and beautiful forever.

But I'd rather not cast aspursions.

The real loser here is Danni Lynn, her daughter. She lost her entire family before she ever even knew them, not counting the father- who has yet to be named.

The first time I saw Anna, it was in Playboy, and let me say that I thought she was a knock-out, easily a '9' or even a potential '10'. She was 5-11, and about 140 lbs, a real blonde to boot. As the Guess model, she was even more impressive. Sure she was as dumb as a stump, but that probably had more to do with how she was raised and what she looked like. (*I have this theory that 'pretty' people are dumber than ugly ones, because they are never forced to develop intellect. They get by on their looks, so the prettier you are...the dumber you end up.)

I know that marrying a man 4 times your senior also doesn't help your image, but I don't hold that against her. Had I, it to do over again, I may have married a rich widow and waited for her to keel over.

I doubt seriously I will miss Ms. Smith. Her best days were probably well behind her, but the one thing I hope to come of this, is that the 'next' blonde bomshell heeds this event, and avoids the perils of history for such persons.

As far as 'news' goes, this story is already bigger than it should be...

My guess is that cause of death is will be CNS depression via prescription drugs, probably augmented by liver dysfunction from chronic alcohol intake. Or else, fluid-electrolyte imbalance caused by freaky diet or fasting.

I've seen her on TV over the years totally slurring her words, so I assume serious downers are at play. The LD50's of benzodiazepines are enormous, so I would suspect good old Vicodin or Oxycontin to make another media appearance soon.

I suspect that if she choked on her own vomit we would know that by now. Besides, Anna was no John Bonham...

My guess is that whatever "natural" ingredients are in Trimspa would not have enough of an effect on hepatic function to cause an adverse drug interaction.

I suspect when the toxicology report comes back the closest comparison will be to Elvis Presley or perhaps Rick James.

Too bad it was not Courtney Love...

Courtney looked GREAT when she was cleaned up and sober...back in the "Man In The Moon" days. Now, she is nasty again, and it is her daughter (with the deceased Kurt Cobain) who pays the price.

Any bets on who Dannielynn's father is? Although I am completely jaded and believe that ALL of the potential fathers are in it for the money, I think Birkhead will indeed be the father.

True story: Bob in accounting is well-known for his gambling proclivities, so one morning in the cafe I tell him about the death pool and ask if he wants in for just $5. He says, "I'm sorry, but that's really sick. I don't think I could." I've heard it before so I thank him anyway and head back to my desk.

A few weeks later we're once again pouring coffees together when Bob says, "Rebecca! Did you get your square on the Super Bowl board yet?" I look shocked and say, "You're betting on a bunch of guys beating each other up? Bob, that's sick."

She actively and aggrresively pursued it and continued to do so even after she was independently wealthy. It's sad that she was so self-destructive, but she I don't buy this stuff about it being a one-sided thing and she was used.

Somebody wondered who the father was. I suspect it was Birkhead because he coaxed and coaxed for a DNA test and Anna wouldn't do it, even though Anna knew he'd have to go away forever if a test proved he wasn't the father. BTW, Birkhead was on TV trying to get access to the kid long before Anna died so unless he's psychic or he murdered her he didn't know an inheritance would be involved.

Also, assume for a minute that Birkhead is the father and consider the consequences. It would mean Anna knew who the father was and refused him access and also refused to take a blood test because she knew it would prove him the father and give him access. That is a terrible thing to do. It is akin to a father stealing a baby out of the nursery in the hospital and refusing to let the mother see it.

Anna died away from her baby in Floridda at some publicity thing even though she didn't need to do it because she is independently wealthy and meanwhile (in the "Birkhead is the father scenario") she was preventing the other parent from ever seeing the baby.

The unfortunate truth is that if whoever ends up raising that kid has a decent head on their shoulders the kid will likely end up being better off.
