I think we are missing the greater point here.

This means that TeddyBoy can't ever again froth against gays. Nor can those who support his explanation.

Because, if TeddyBoy can excuse his homosexual romps this way, how can anyone speak out against gays? Heck, they are just "acting out situations".....right?

Ted Haggard just shot down every religious nut's arguments against gays. To save his own...dare I say it? I dare: ass...he has effectively contradicted the Bible.

What does "acting out" mean? He was only gay while he was actually engaged in the act of homosexual intercourse, but otherwise he was "totally straight"?

Ted's "counselors" have recommended that he leave Colorado permanently and go into another line of work. They are barely trying to pretend they've cured this hard case. They just want to shuffle him off to parts unknown ASAP. No wonder Dobson couldn't find the time to participate in this farce. He knew there was no curing him. The question is: for how many years did these characters know that their golden boy was befouling his own Christiness?

I'm not sure that's the case. He can blame it on media exposure to filth and use it as evidence of the danger gays present to decent god-fearingTM people. These people are masters of rationalization so it would be no stretch for them.

He apperently never was that kind of anti-gay and more of a "love the sinner, hate the sin" kind of Christian. He never said that homosexuals need to be put to death, but just that they to change. So I don't think you can accuse him being inconsistent in his own teachings.

Well, yes. "Christian Compassion" tends to do that. The whole "love the sinner, hate the sin" is completely contrary to the Bible.

It is people like TeddyBoy who have been promoting homosexuality as "filth". If the media picks up on that, it is due to TeddyBoy and his ilk.

Sure, he was engaging in activity that he decried. I don't see how you can view that as not inconsistent with his teachings.
 
This reminds me of that great bit in the movie Hairspray where Sonny Bono is trying to cure his daughter of liking black boys. He brings in a therapist, played by John Waters, to work his mumbo jumbo with one of those spinning wheels with a spiral design on it. Replace that spinning wheel with lots of prayer and laying on of hands (not on the naughty bits!) and you've got Ted's cure. Maybe they spoke in tongues - ohwhatagooseiam.
