Randi on Anderson Cooper 360

I still don't see how Sylvia would appeal to christians. She is new age nonsense and her humbug is not too compatible with christianity.
Ever seen an interview with a NAMBLA member where they try to tie the outrage against them to the the persecution of homosexuals, even though the two have nothing to do with each other and most gay folks are disgusted by those creeps and offended by the suggestion they do?

Pretty much the same thing.

Not to repeat myself, but the image is still on my clipboard. This from Sylvia's own website. She uses the word "fee", which is not by any stretch of the imagination an optional donation. 'The truth is not in them.'

On the ''atheist" comment, there was an interview (Larry King?) with Sylvia last year which featured her with a prominent Rabbi and a professor from the university of Oklahoma(?) Her accusation then was that the Rabbi could not criticize her because he would essentially be a hypocrite.

So to their thinking - non-religious people cannot criticize her, and religious ones can't either. That about covers it.

I like how Anderson Cooper has started calling Sylvia an “alleged” and “self proclaimed” psychic. At least he realizes she is a fraud. I was especially pleased when he called out Linda on her shameless ad hominem attacks on Randi’s atheism. If you call what Sylvia Browne does “spiritual,” then boy am I sure glad I’m an atheist.

One problem with appearances like these is that there is never enough time to properly discuss the challenge. It was not stressed enough that Sylvia, if she is a truly a legitimate psychic, could easily earn one million dollars in less than a days work. Sure, Sylvia “doesn’t have to prove anything to Randi,” but I can’t think of a better way to shut him up than to take his money. One minute just isn’t enough time to debunk all the lies about the challenge, or to explain how a mutually agreed upon double blind test is a fair way to measure ability, or to tell the story of how Browne already agreed to take the test 6 years ago.

I thought it was deliciously ironic that Linda said Randi should go after the “real charlatans out there” and leave Sylvia alone. Hmmm, that sounds an awful lot like what Rosemary Altea said. Apparently every psychic out there is a fraud except for the one you happen to be talking to at the moment.

P.S.: Kudos to Mr. Lancaster for having a bit of his segment about Sylvia air again. I think once you’re on CNN twice you can officially call yourself a T.V. star ;)

Last year I started an email campaign to get Randi on Jon Stewart and Randi himself told me he didn't think it would happen, but dared me to prove it! Several of us went to the site above which now doesn't show any way to contact. Somehow I did it before, but can't seem to find it now.

As opposed to last year, the heat on Browne is pretty intense right now.

What was that part where she implied that Sylvia wasn't wrong about Shawn being dead? I'm having trouble typing because I'm laughing so hard.
She said Sylvia wasn't wrong about Shawns case. Cooper asked, "You still think that Shawn is dead?"

It was a hoot! The expressions on her face were priceless.

Last year or the year before when Sylvia was on Larry King a professor from the University of Central Oklahoma (I think Brian Farha) called and asked her why she wouldn't take the challenge even though she'd previously agreed.

Unfortunately Randi wasn't allowed to say as much as Sylvia's rep did. And he didn't interrupt her but she interrupted him. That was irritating. At first she lost her composure but by the end she had regained some. Too bad that Randi's comments at the very end regarding the Challenge were hard to hear. I'll need to watch the clip that Lisa posted. I hope other viewers got his point, tho, about her agreeing to it then backing out with lame excuses.

Again, I don't think she expected this treatment at CNN, where Sylvia has had so much positive exposure in the past.
