Agreed. I'm not sure how the residue of thermate vs that of thermite would differ visually. There's certainly no convenient google images to refer to.
You are assuming, however, that it would produce black residue, and there's nothing to support this.

Hardly at all. Barium oxide is also a white solid. The trace amounts of sulphur binder won't contribute much.
Regardless, once again, there is no one who has found chemical residue consistent with any variant of thermite. Not when considering the chemical species themselves, which is far more accurate than any argument to the color of the residue.
This whole claim is unsupported. Thermite/ate/whatever is a non-starter. QED.

Is it just me, or did this thread just produce 30 pages of evidence as to why this guy was wrong, and he's now claiming he's crushing us?
28K - we showed you a picture of a man, with a torch, at the WTC, cutting through a steel column. At an angle. Producing the same residue on your pic, a picture from the same source as the one we showed you.
We showed you, alongside the picture of someone actually doing the cutting (as if that wasn't enough), other pictures of similar materials, cut in similar ways, producing similar residues.
We also showed you that thermite burns downwards, and cannot cut through a vertical column. We showed you that thermite doesn't produce the type of residue you think it does. We showed you all this, and more, and you still think you're "right"?
Have you been drinking?? Your behavior and post quality(not that it was ever very high) has plummeted in the few hours....
Just to recap, a photo of a recovery worker, cutting a perimeter column, at an angle, with a torch, leaving similar slag as your "Thermite" cut column - hasn't at least hinted at the possibility you could be wrong about this?
ETA: thats the second time today I've posted the same thing as someone else at the same time!!
