Bumper sticker. . .(shudder)

You're not Kathy's dad are you?
No he's not my dad. My dad isn't saved yet. I'm praying for that big time.

This is another sore subject for me. If my dad had known the Lord and raised me with faith I don't think I would have had so many of the struggles I'v had in my life. Not that I blame him completely, but God does hold dads accountable for what they teach their children and how they raise them.

The world still needs more Godly parents, and that's definitely not the same as being a moral or good parent. I had moral parents, just not Godly parents and now that's still my daily struggle, learning how to be a Godly parent. I try so hard but sometimes but I still struggle with 3 teens at home that aren't always respectful towards me. How come kids disrespect moms more than dads? I think it's cuz we spoil them too much.

Somebody has quite an attitude going on here. Tell me RF what made you become an apostate?
As tempting as it is to give a snide answer I think the question far too important.

One day, as a believer and active member of my church I made a commitment to never lie to myself. No matter how uncomfortable the truth might be I committed that should the evidence weigh against my beliefs I would accept the evidence. In the beginning the commitment really had nothing whatsoever to do with religion but once I made the commitment it was the inevitable consequence.

I won't lie to you and tell you that I have always been faithful to my resolution. I haven't. In fact the truth has, at times, been too painful. It took time to gain strength in my convictions. It's not always easy and it is not without a cost. I've lost some friends and associations. However, I can go to bed at night confident that I have made an intellectually honest attempt to find the truth.

If there was a god I could look him or her square in the eye and declare with all sincerity that I had, to the best of my ability, been true to myself.

The phrase 'true to oneself' is one that resonates with me and the God I believe in would not be turning you away.

In all things we need to learn to give thanks to the one who gave us all good things. I say we can all use an attitude adjustment!
"All things great and small." Small like parasites, bacteria and virus.

Good things, god is to be thanked for, or so we are told. The bad things? I guess we thank god for them (see Job). That's one hell of an attitude adjustment. No thanks. It makes far more sense to simply accept that life is the result of natural events that have no intention like tornadoes that kill children or the result of people, some who are mostly good and some who are mostly bad and many who are in between.

When a good thing happens to me as a result of the good nature of another person I thank goodness.

Kathy, I do hope you are working on this primarily through prayer, as opposed to preaching. You can do real damage to family relationships with persistent preaching. Sort of like you do here, but here it's okay because we're just a bunch of pen pals of sorts, so annoying us is no big deal.

I don't necessarily think you're causing a problem in your family, but I'd like some confirmation. Not that it's any of my business, of course.

That's not true at all. There are plenty of things that are just down right painful to see and know. Do you really think it's easy for someone like me to admit how much sin was in my past and not feel the effects of it? Oh please.

I live with that heart ache everyday and sometimes still dwell too much on wishing I could change it. I guess the most important thing is that I have learned what not to do now. Nobody gets away from the stain that sin leaves on us in this life. That's why it's awesome when we finally know Christ because we have that hope and promise of being cleansed in the next life. One day he will wipe away every tear from our eyes. These words mean a lot to me.

So what am I disreguarding Paul?

Kathy you are cleansed in the blood of the Lamb from the instant you accepted God's Grace (Christ). You have a white garment that is kept clean by yopur adherence to the Law and is cleansed by your repentance of sin. The 'stain' of your worldly sin is gone.
Kathy " Interpretation of Scripture comes only from within by the Holy Spirit" no man or woman can tell you what the Bible means only God can.
And if someone is telling you that the 'stain' of your past remains on you then they are an abuser, I would love to confront them in your presence.
You Kathy are a child of God, as pure and beautiful as any other, thats how God made you and thats how He wants you which is why He remade you in Christ.
I love you Kathy.
Turn your face towards the Lord and he will wipe away your tears right now. But crying is human and it is good. "Blessed are them that mourn for they shall be comforted."

When a good thing happens to me as a result of the good nature of another person I thank goodness.
So you acknowlege goodness but not where it comes from? Did you ever stop to think that when someone shows you love and kindness God may be trying to show you something?

Thankyou, it's still sometimes very painful in this life I'm afraid. Perhaps I still have much to learn about overcoming the enemy of our souls. He loves to try to keep people oppressed if we allow it. I have also heard some teachings on how God sometimes allows Satan to oppress us to accomplish something of eternal value in them, but that ones a little hard for me to understand. Either way I have come out from under a lot of bondage and I am grateful to know the one who saves us. God Bless You CM

P.S. I would like to ask you to keep me in prayer that my triple neck fusion heals correctly. The doctors have done what they can do, now it's up to God to do the rest. Thanks again!

If my dad had known the Lord
The only one who can be blamed for this lack of knowledge is the lord himself. He could have made it perfectly clear, if he'd chosen. At least according to the attributes he is commonly ascribed.

I've had lots of good things happen/given to me. No evidence they came from any god, and pretending otherwise does a disservice to those who did the work.

Twaddle. Is Fred Phelps wrong in his interpretation?

Was David Koresh wrong?

Was the Heaven's Gate cult wrong?

Was Joseph Smith wrong?

If you say any of them are wrong, then you are doing what you say cannot be done.

If you say none of them are wrong, then you are saying no one, including Kurious Kathy and you, is right or can be right, because there is no reconciling some of these interpretations.

Well since you declared that we’re all god and only the holy spirit, a version of god, can tell you what you want the scriptures to say, that would explain why there are so many people that disagree with each other over scripture.

Now, since I’m god, I hereby declare all those other gods, at least those that disagree with me, wrong. Whew, nipped that one in the bud.

More religious bigotry. And badly thought out bigotry at that.

I know, for me when people do not question (and or) fear to question their believes, it always leads to trouble for someone.

Paul

You’ve got a disconnect there. Paul was referring to the bible and the cherry picking that all Christians perform. The more devout the more cherry picking is required.

Now go back and comment on what Paul actually wrote, not your strawman.

Actually the most devout Mennonites( Quakers) and Orthodox Jews and maybe sects of Islam are the most adherent to the Law. I also find them to be very sweet personally, as well as helpful and charitable. In 1986 we had a big blow up around the Barrie Ontario area hundreds of hundred year old barns were knocked down. The Mennonites from the Kitchener Ontario area still build that type of structur and have/had the expertise to raise all the barns back up. They came with over a hundred men and had their womenfolk with them. The men raised over 150 barns that had blown down, they clad the barns with steel ( the old boards were not an option)
Their womenfolk set up kitchens and tables and fed all comers. Then when the work was done they packed up and went home.
And you couldnt pay them if you wanted to.
They were just being neighbourly.

Thats what I call fundamental Bible style faith.
