Well at times we do see Jesus got in peoples faces and told them truth, straight forward is how I think of it. But you are right doing all things in a loving manner is important. Sometimes I still am ruff around the edges, forgive me.
You have not wronged me so no worries. When Jesus was in people's faces they were generally hypocrits, especially religious ones. For me, the idea of being alongside others, talking in ways that are understood, is more Jesus's way. Many here have been hurt by religion and the hypocrisy of some, so Bible verses and platitudes don't go along way (also many have good rational reasons to not believe either!); I don't have many answers, though.
If I may be so bold, I suspect it isn't your new-found Christianity that is keeping them separated from you, but the desire not to be preached at by a sanctimonious person who is certain of her correctness.
Haven't you been listening? Dozens of people here have explained that to you. That could be another reason why your family keeps you at arms length: You only want to talk. You show no interest in listening.
