Devil in the detail: Vatican exorcises Harry Potter

THE Vatican has never been a fan of Harry Potter, but its chief exorcist has gone one step further and condemned J. K. Rowling's fictional boy wizard as downright evil.

"Behind Harry Potter hides the signature of the king of the darkness, the devil," says Father Gabriele Amorth, the Pope's "caster-out of demons".

Darn, I just bought Half Blood Prince this afternoon.

I can't understand why Christians are so concerned that reading fiction will somehow harm their faith. Certainly my atheism was never harmed by reading the bible...

But your reason is stronger than their faith, or at least their childrens faith.

I can see why he's upset. He doesn't want kids to get their stories mixed up.

"Daddy, was Jesus good at Quiddich (sp?) too?"

He's just worried kids will ask who'd win a fight between Harry Potter and Jesus and decide it's Harry.

If Voodoo Really Worked ...

If Voodoo really worked - G.W. Bush would be long gone by now!

Any people in New Orleans who believed in it would have seen to that!

Instead, when he choked on a pretzel, it was the Voodoo doll who died.

LOL

According to secret Vatican documents recently released wartime pontiff Pope Pius XII attempted a "long distance" exorcism of Hitler which failed to have any effect.
That's a pretty convenient excuse for an organization that never took a public stance against Hitler back when it could have (potentially) made some difference. "Yeah, uh, we were trying to exorcise him. Really! It's all the devil's fault."

Don't forget, Hitler was Catholic. I especially like his speech of 12/04/22, where he said: "I say: my feeling as a Christian points me to my lord and saviour as a fighter. it points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few followers, recognized these jews for what they were and summoned men to the fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as sufferer but as fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and of adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before - the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice. And as a man I have the duty to see to it that human society does not suffer the same catastrophic collapse as did the civilization of the ancient world some two thousand years ago - a civilization which was driven to its ruin through this same Jewish people."

How could the Pope NOT love this guy?

Cute But Deadly

My niece thinks Harry Potter is cute.

But little does she know that under that cute boyish disguise, lies Satan the Devil incarnate waiting to cast his evil spell and turn her into the new Wicked Witch of the East.

LOL

Lions and tigers and bears, oh joy !
