Denmark: happiest place in the world

There should be at the very least references to nationalized health care, gun control and government/religion co-mingling.

Well, of course when theft is institutionalized and re-labeled "redistribution of wealth", the vast bulk of the thieves receiving stolen goods will report happier lives, so long as they believe they are not stealing, which requires a vast industry of apologists claiming so over and over until it becomes true.

It's true! :)

Use of the sarcastic smiley is encouraged

Oops.

I suppose that's how a few danes check out now and then, but we also have a huge number of cases where people have browsed their way to a Bigfoot research site, and died laughing.. That counts as suicide as well here :)

So, if I email some sasquatch evidence to all the Danes I can find, and millions die laughing, would I be guilty of genocide?

Is inspiring death by laughing truly murder?

....Yeeeesss, we danoirs know all about yoooouuu, but you know nothing about uuuuussss.. Our dob' seekret plan for world domination still proceæeæed as foretold by the stars and the shrine of Wotan.....

I'm well aware of the Danish plan for world domination, and am even very knowledgable in how it occurs.

I married into a Danish family.

It's scary...........

Let's skip all that crap and get straight to the dope (no pun intended).

What is the suicide rate?

Country Rate (per 100,000)
Finland 26.4
Denmark 20.4
Austria 20.4
France 19.8
Switzerland 19.6
Japan 15.1
Sweden 14.7
Germany 13.8
Norway 13
United States 11.8
Netherlands 9.6

Denmark, almost twice as crappy as the U.S of A. :)

Well, I think a high suicide rate might increase the proportion of happy people in the remaining population.

(Just for your info, those numbers above have already been shown to be wrong. See upstream for more info.)

Okay people, this story was made for the JREF Politics forum. I want a minimum 10-page heated argument over this. There should be at the very least references to nationalized health care, gun control and government/religion co-mingling. Use of the sarcastic smiley is encouraged. Now's the time to use some of those creative insults you've been saving up. This has potential: let's pull together and make this the worse thread ever.

Who needs 10 pages when they produce the liquor of the gods, and know it?

You can't find a decent taco in Denmark. Therefore, it can't be the happiest country in the world. End of discussion.

Oh well, the last time I ate at a Mexican restaurant here in Copenhagen, I heard a microwave oven go ding 20 seconds before I got my hot plate of chicken tortilla instead of the beef tortilla I ordered. So sadly, you may be right :boggled:

It is a well known fact that the Aztecs had microwave technology. :D Nothing says "authentic Mexican food" like the ding of a timer.

Concur.

You know, I really only discovered mexican food in my very late teens. I've been addicted to it every since.

I've been eating Mexican food all my life, and I constantly keep on discovering new delicacies. What you can sample outside Mexico isn't 1% of the variety we get here. Even within the country, the ingredients, dishes, and flavors vary greatly from one region from another. One thing for sure: everywhere you go, the food is truly addictive.

Iceland
Ireland
Luxembourg
Norway
UAE
USA

are countries which the Life Expectancy, gdp per capita, and educational access are all higher than in Denmark, according to the data.

No doubt. The food Yankees call Mexican food is just an appetizer.

It's a whole different culinary world in southern Mexico.

- A long life is not necessarily a happy life,
- Money can't always buy you happiness
- and ignorance is bliss. ;)

When it comes to life expectancy, Denmark is far down the list. It is usually attributed to enjoying life a bit too much (eating unhealthy, smoking etc.).
