Hovind : Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee - HAH!

I wonder what GWB would say on such faith based issues. However if this thread goes anywhere it would probably be better of in R&P.

Thank God for the IRS, Scientology notwithstanding.

Wait -- are y'all trying to tell me that there are dishonest evangelists? =o.@= Noooo! Say it ain't so, Swaggart.

Hovind wanted to take the US to a theocracy. Let's leave it here.

...After sending hundreds of pages of documents to the IRS and numerous letters asking honest questions to the IRS (which received no response except a surprise Gestapo type raid on our church last year) the only logical conclusion from all of this that I can see is that someone is using the IRS and Department of Justice to attempt to stop the spread of the truth about creation science and to perpetuate the lies and myths supporting evolution...

I sincerely believe that anyone, even an atheist, who takes a close look at the evidence and message presented by Creation Science Evangelism, will see our dedication to the truth using sound science and scripture.

Heh heh heh, even an atheist...

@Tony: He allegedly chose the dishonest path. And apparently a lot more. Threats? False reports?

And "hard-earned"...? :-} Hm.

BTW, I'm a little surprised that poets like you over there take such interest in our local cartoon characters.
Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world, thank goodness.

As for being a cartoon character, the bastard should be. But he isn't.

As to why I care, in the first place I just loathe him personally. And if I fight in your "culture wars", I am on your side.

In the second place, we have creationists in the UK too, and where do you suppose they get their ideas from?

Sometimes it is very obvious --- at least in restrospect. I met a British fundie, and he told me a particularly stupid set of lies, and I never figured out why until I read about the First Amendment and the stupid ways in which your fundies try to get around it.

And then the penny dropped. My British fundie was trying to weasel his way aroung the First Amendment. But the British don't have a First Amendment, we have a state religion.

I talked to a guy the other day --- a JW --- who was concerned about the "banning of prayer in schools". In Britain, prayer in schools is compulsory. But my friend had been reading ... what ....Chick tracts?

British fundie nonsense is a copy --- a copy and paste ---of American fundie nonsense. The sources are in your great and free republic, and that's where, first and foremost, they must be fought.

How is this good news? Hovind is a douche-bag, no doubt, but how is it good that someone goes to jail for choosing to keep their hard earned dollar?
I hate taxes. However it's the law. I have to file and pay taxes.

For some unknown reason the IRS doesn't take too kindly to folks not paying taxes and with heretofore unknown means they will through your ass in jail if you willfully refuse to file your return.

Strange.

ETA: Folks, file the damn return and pay your taxes. If you don't like it petition congress or move. I don't like it either but it is what it is.

I agree. The middle east is a hotbed of Islamic fundamentalism and the USA is a hotbed of christian fundamentalism.

So your fundies are even dumber than ours?

I said I wanted to share the joy, yes?

It's like Fred Phelps being struck by lightning. It's time for us all to laugh and realize that, Left or Right, we're all human beings and KENT HOVIND HAS BEEN INDICTED ON FIFTY-EIGHT SEPARATE COUNTS.

For one brief and lovely moment, the whole Politics forum can do a group hug and high fives, OK?

Yes --- our fundies take your fundies seriously.

Seriously, it's hard to tell. Our fundies recite what they've read in little photocopied pamphlets, same as yours. But because the originals of the photocopies were made in the USA ... well, you get the picture.
