Sheehan Fasts for Peace

Her hunger strike will last as long as Saddams. I predict 4 more of these stories by years end as she learns that starting a hunger strike will get minor press no matter how many times she does it.

That she lay on her son's grave, kissed a political figure you dislike, and is on a hunger strike is grounds to label her insane? Was Ghandi insane?

How about the part where she describes New Orleans as "occupied New Orleans"?

It's certainly a distasteful exageration at best and false at worst, but "crazy?" No.

Then you and I disagree. In fact, you and I disagree on many things. Among them that laying on a grave for a photo-op is normal behavior, that Hugo Chaves is just any "politician I don't like", and that Cindy Sheehan is in any way comparable to Ghandi.

I never claimed laying on a grave is normal, but normal does not indicate sanity. Hugo Chavez is then someone you do like? And she is a person peacefully expressing her poltical desires through prublic displays. In that sense, she is perfectly comparable to Ghandi.

It may also be evidence of insanity
Hugo Chavez is then someone you do like?

You can't derive that from anything I've said.
And she is a person peacefully expressing her poltical desires through prublic displays. In that sense, she is perfectly comparable to Ghandi.

In that sense Pat Robertson is also perfectly comparable to Ghandi. As is Anne Coulter, Jeanine Garaffalo, Rush Limbaugh, or Michael Moore.

Well, let's put it this way. I doubt very that, had Ghandi lost a child, he would have agreed to a color spread double-page photograph of him in Vanity Fair (or the equivalent) lying in a dreamy state on their grave.

"Okay, Cindy, we want a picture that tastefully suggests incestual necrophilia..."

It may also be evidence of insanity
On what grounds exactly?

You can't derive that from anything I've said.
Then explain the bolded section:

I was not aware anyo of these people adovcated the cessation of war and used a hunger fast to do so.

Not Michael Moore?

Moore on a hunger strike, there's a novel concept. He has to stop for a snack halfway through lunch, fer Chrissakes.

And apparently, ID's basis for judging the sanity of actions is entirely dependent upon whether the stated purpose is one he agrees with.

On what grounds exactly?

Simple. Unusual behavior may be indicative of mental illness.

Then explain the bolded section:

It does not say I like Hugo Chavez.

I was not aware anyo[sic] of these people advocated the cessation of war and used a hunger fast to do so.

Ah, now we're moving the goal posts. Previously the only points of comparison were that they "...peacefully expressing her poltical[sic] desires through prublic[sic] displays."

What exactly is your argument here? You asked a question and I provided an answer. Are you upset that anyone could conclude that Sheehan is nuts?

Wow, is this a topsy-turvy world, but I'm going with I.D. on this one. She's sane. Extremist, distasteful, unfunny, blah, blah. But she's loony, not loopy.

Interesting. False, but interesting. If Sheehan were fasting FOR the continuation of the war, and used exactly the same means, I wouldn't say she was insane. It seems to me that her critics are the ones declaring her insane because they disagree with her opinions.

No, if she were to fast for the continuing of the war, I would still judge her insane.

Think about it; what action could the government possibly take that would end the strike?

I, for one, am more comfortable sympathizing with a loon than trying to conceive how a mother could cynically exploit her own son's death and embrace terrorism in an attempt to discredit a president.

If she's sane, then she's evil. Therefore I prefer to think it's just one big misunderstanding and she's just crazed with grief (even though she sure smiles a lot these days).

I think Mycroft's point is that Chavez is not MERELY disliked by him, but also a dictator who made a point of making threats against the USA which he uses as a bousing the USA as his bogeyman, which doesn't stop Sheehan.

Actually, if the anti-war side were going to recruit a hunger stiker, Moore would be the guy. He could live off his current body fat a lot longer than a much trimmer Cindy Sheehan.
