Questions about Revelations

Some also infer that chapter 17 refers to Ann Coulter (whore of babylon)
I've heard some great teachings on Revelations Chapter 17
The Doom of Babylon
Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, "Come here, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed acts of immorality, and those who dwell on the earth were made drunk with the wine of her immorality."

the great harlot as to be representing the false religions of this world.

Do they believe that the “old heaven” will be wiped away and replaced with a new and improved heaven?
Yes ltl, we believe it is exactly as Scripture states in Rev 21:1...
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.

This happens right after the great white throne of judgement.

What happens to all the people in the old heaven? Do they get wiped away too? What is the difference between the new heaven and the old heaven, aside from the lack of a sea? What is the point of a sea anyway since spiritual beings don't need physical things? Will there be land? Where will this land be? Another planet?

I have a pretty good white throne in my house too! I sometimes sit on it while I ponder things.

psy kick,
God is a judge. He is merciful, but all must have justice.
Its like a judge keeps giving probation to a person, and they keep doing wrong. After a time, enough is enough and the person must be given up to judgment.

Merciful? Have you read the Old Testament? I think the God of the Old Testament is the same as the God of the New Testament. Or was there a change in God somewhere?

Yes, I think that I am begining to understand now. God will come down hard on us non-believers, but the Fundy's(because they have been so good) will be swept up into heaven.

I just want to know one thing. Who many virgins will be waiting for you in Heaven?

Oh sorry about that. I meant "Mansions". How many Mansions will be waiting for you?

I get my religions confused sometimes. My mistake.

I dunno Kathy, I'm not a particularily merciful person, but I wouldn't condemn ANYONE, not even Hitler or Jack or the Ripper or Genghis Khan or Pol Pot to eternal torture by flame. The worst I would do is sentence them to torture by flame until all their victims choose to redeem. I'm sure this would be more likely than it sounds as there would be no more pain, suffering, or post-traumatic stress disorder (at least among those already redeemed from hell).

It always bothered me that I was a better person than God. That's just not right. I want to admire and worship God, not rebuke him for sadism.

No creature is greater than it's creator. It would be wise for all us to be humble before God. Whether we like it or not, He is in total control.

The idea of an eternity in hell which is literally away from God forever, that's a pain I never want. It's only through Christ that any of us can be reconciled to God. He is holy, we are not!

Choose life, choose Christ! If we deny Him we only condemn ourselves.

I've so far managed to live a very happy and contended life without god, so if all there is to hell is living without him, I'm up for it!

What a very silly world you people live in, where there's this big invisible man controlling everything and if you talk to him, he might help you out (but he might not, and if he doesn't, it's for your own good) and later, instead of dying, you're going to get to go live in the clouds. What a fairy tale! I almost can't help laughing when I think how many people actually believe this nonsense! If an alien came from another planet, and we tried to explain to him how most of the people believe in one or another type of magic, with talking animals and people coming back from the dead, they'd wonder what kind of stupid, ignorant, uneducated planet they'd come across! I'm embarrassed sometimes to be a human!
