He knows perfectly well he's not going to fix fuel prices in time, because the real problem is that he can't finish his Iran debacle. So, for the election, the best he can do is to look as if he's fixing it, by doing a deal with Russia and by threatening Ukraine if they keep attacking Russia's refineries. But it's all just for show.

As I think he said himself, you don't have to do it; you just have to say you're going to do it.

Knowingly counting the vote of someone you are aware is not entitled to vote is apparently not allowed. Amazing. Did you, like, read a law book or something, genius?

Imagining you might have to point that out to election officials is idiotic. Performatively threatening them over it, as if you wanted people to think you seriously imagined they were intending to do it, is just pathetic and insulting.

Exactly.

Also Trump probably doesn't accept (in what passes for the remainder of his mind) that the diesel price is anything to do with his attacking Iran.

It's reinforcing the fiction that Democrats regularly have millions of illegal aliens secretly vote in order to steal elections.

Read it again. It’s “cast by individuals identified by federal agencies as noncitizens”.

It’s the ICE agent at the booth who will be identifying “non-citizens” using their standard colour charts.

Trump knows his base cultists are so stupid that they will believe him. Has lowered food and gas prices? Has he lowered inflation? Interest rates? Did he keep his promise not to enter into any wars? Has he made healthcare more affordable? No. But they'll still believe him when he says he'll do something. You can't fix stupid.

Um, a question, first. Long before any tabulation, aren't non-citizens prevented from voting anyway, and always have been? So why this threat about a non-existant situation at polling stations?

For what it's worth, the Republican Party has long misrepresented and conflated things on this topic. It is mildly noteworthy that certain locales in California and elsewhere in the US do indeed allow non-citizen voting - for local positions like school boards. Non-citizens are not permitted to vote in state or federal elections, though, consistent with the law. Republican propagandists have long misused such non-citizen voting as if it were evidence of non-citizens voting in state or federal elections, relying on ignorance and manufactured triggers to get a free pass.
