I can't help be reminded of the state-level conspiracy to convict Dreyfus and keep him convicted, which led to prosecutors arguing that even if the evidence provided to date was either fraudulent or implicated someone else, there was even more evidence that was even more damning but it was so sensitive that it couldn't be shown to the court.

I am pleased to announce that the Department of the Interior, under the auspices of Secretary Doug Burgum, and in conjunction with famed Golf Course Architect, Tom Fazio, has developed a plan to build a World Class Championship Golf Course on the site of the current East Potomac Golf Links, located in Washington, D.C.

When completed, it will be open to the Public while, at the same time, designed to the Highest Level of Golf and able to hold World Class Tournaments such as the U.S. Open, the PGA Championship, the Ryder Cup, and the Presidents Cup.

This Course will create many Jobs, and have a tremendously positive Economic Development impact on Washington, D.C., and the surrounding area. Millions of Dollars will inure to the Capital area.

The current Course is old, broken, dilapidated, and of no further use or effect. It is in very poor condition, with falling, dangerous, and disease infested trees and, importantly, a collapsing and hazardous seawall.

When the East Potomac Course was originally built, it was famous for no trees, with views of Washington, D.C., for all to see, but now, it is completely overgrown, dysfunctional, and unsafe.

Restoration work will begin on the Fazio Design on November 15th, when the old Course will be closed to play. The new Course will be opened in approximately 15 months.

The United States Golf Association, PGA of America, and the PGA Tour have already been notified that they will soon have one of the Best and Most Spectacular Golf Courses anywhere in the World to put on their list of great places to play, and hold Major Events.

Doug Burgum, and the United States Department of the Interior, is very excited about the new Development of a Great Golf Course at the site of the old East Potomac Golf Links.
We would like to thank Tom Fazio for his initial conceptual design and ideas, coupled with those of others from within the Golf World and the Department of the Interior.
Any variance or changes will be made, depending on site conditions, by the Experts in Parks and Recreation, whose experience and knowledge in Seawalls, Landscaping, and Design are second to none.

Yes it's vandalism, yes it makes things worse, but hey, it's going to occupy his mind and highlight how out of touch he is, and compared to what else he's doing, it's almost neutral.

There's a couple easy answers to why that is. The first is that most of those "good" rationales are little more than socially acceptable excuses and proxies. Like with abortion, which became the issue that it is today by being a proxy issue for racism. That also ties into the second reason, incidentally, given the same route. Gullibility and information control. There's good reason why controlling the media is one of the early warning signs of fascism. Control what people see and hear and beliefs will shift in accordance with that.

A third part of the picture has much to do with how the Republican party works, socially. To poke back at one of the differences between self-identified liberals and conservatives, liberals on average tend to value truth and empathy over pretty much everything else by a large margin, while conservatives on average have far more spread out values - truth and loyalty in particular are rather even, at last check. It can be said that both can lead to intolerance towards dissent, but the mechanics and nature are quite different. Liberals particularly don't like lying or being lied to in serious ways. Nor do they like cruelty. There is intolerance towards those who engage in such. To poke at an old and mildly humerous observation, leading liberals is like herding cats. Leading conservatives, on the other hand, is more like leading a pack of dogs and they value loyalty far more. They will often tend to choose to protect and support those they think are their own, even when it means lying. If they choose the truth over the lies, it will be treated as disloyalty and they are well aware that they'll suffer at the hands of Republicans for it. Social rejection is a nasty threat to social creatures, before getting to the threats to their careers, physical well being, and potentially even their families. This dynamic has been shown over and over and over.
