The committee was not directly criticising Trump by rewarding Pillay, according to Haakon Gjerloew, acting director ⁠of the Peace Research Institute Oslo.
"I think it's generally rather a promotion of an international legal world order. Of course, he might react to someone who has been part of the ICC, but it's not a direct attack on Trump," Gjerloew said.

Honestly, I think this will just get executions banned in the US faster. Of course it's also barbaric and cruelty for the sake of cruelty, but at least there's that silver lining.

Attacking targets in a foreign country without provocation? They're already doing it in international waters, so when do we see the first missile fired at some arbitrarily chosen target in Canada, for example? 'Yes, I killed four people with a beautiful rocket strike, the Canadian governour is very ungrateful, we're enforcing their laws for him and they condemn the attack... Yes, I know the fake news media claims it was a family on a camping trip, very nasty and uncool, we know they were horrible LGBT-communist drug trading terrorist plotters...'
