Does 'rape culture' accurately describe (many) societies?

UK children are already taught about the dangers of porn (compulsory since September 2020): distorted realities, misogyny, negative impact on relationships, consent and coercion. Since you believe that education is the fix, then please expound on where the UK's Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) curriculum has gone wrong and what changes are required.
What's your point?

No, you misunderstand. What they teach is a political decision.
Please explain? Art thinks we need better education to fix the child-on-child epidemic (in the UK but it's probably an issue in most countries). RSHE (including the dangers of porn) has been compulsory for 6 years here.

This isn't complicated. Adults have normalised anything-goes sexual imagery, kids have run with it - and they get a slap on the wrist (in general) if caught.

I mentioned it before, if Poem's strange ideas had any validity we would never have had any homosexuals (or bisexuals) as homosexuals even today are brought up in a world that is contantly pushing hetrosexuality down everyone's throat, websites are constanting bombarding you with hetrosexuality, newspapers are full of it, you can't escape it. If all it took was exposure to a different sexuality to change your sexuality, why have we always had homosexuals amongst us ?
As I said, evolutionary biology determines that only genes that are efficacious in survival and reproduction predominate. That ensures that heterosexuality will always be dominant. That there will be some degree of divergence from that is of course normal - as long as the evolutionary trade-off is beneficial.

Your phrasing is a little ways off, there. Traits that aren't beneficial to propagating genes only decrease their expression in populations if they are expensive or detrimental. Otherwise they stick around in the mixed bag, waiting for environmental pressures to change.

There is literally nothing about humans that requires heterosexuality to be dominant in order that the species should thrive. A society that was all homosexual but was culturally dedicated to child-rearing as a civic virtue and form of generational property management etc would do fine.

If you're looking for a situation where the population collapses if there's no sexual drive behind reproduction, you'd be looking at animals that have no idea sex makes kids. We are smart enough to have kids on purpose. We do not need a heterosexual sex drive in order to have kids.

Huh? You pulled that out of your ass. Why should kids get punished?

The education isn't to teach that porn is necessarily bad. But it is unrealistic. Pornographic movies are still movies.

Do you really think that there have been periods in history when there was less sexual abuse of, or by, children, than there is now? Really?
Hmmm...The Guardian article (2024) I posted on this says the numbers have increased:
The NPCC said 52% of alleged offenders were children, compared with around one third a decade ago.

It's obviously more complicated than that. If we want to give children clear guidance about sex and it's value - then flooding the internet with anything-goes content is the wrong way.

If we really wanted to improve society then we would not do that. Porn is a celebration of lust and self and is contrary (in general) to what it takes to raise a child.

The big problem with those numbers are that child abuse/abusers, especially sexual child abuse/abusers, has been severly underreported. We have, during the past couple of decades, become far more aware, and adept at spotting signs of abuse, and teachers are now trained to spot it, from kindergarten and upwards. We are also far more ready to call behaviours abuse, and, at least here in Sweden, children are taught what abuse is, and have several ways of reporting it.

You see, reports of rape and sexual abuse have increased, because we are aware of what abuse is, and aren't quite as scared about reporting it, or ashamed of being a victim, as we were just a few decades ago. The rise in numbers is a good thing, it's a sign that we are, on the whole, getting better. Not that we can't improve, we do still have a long way to go, but compared to when I was young, things have improved immensely.

As for the porn/lust/self nonsense, that's your very own narrow view of sex.

The figures are a disgrace whichever way you analyse them. When a society trivialises sex through porn and serves it up to kids then...well, we know the consequences.

The excuses continue.

This bit:
Porn is a celebration of lust and self and is contrary (in general) to what it takes to raise a child.
which does not use the word 'sex'.

So you disagree that porn isn't about lust. It's not about self? Good grief -what planet are you living on?
