A judge in Washington DC has dismissed the criminal case against a former Olympian accused by the Trump administration of vandalising the Reflecting Pool.
Judge Todd Edelman ordered the case against David Hearn dismissed "with prejudice", meaning US prosecutors cannot refile the case.

Of course the DC prosecutor Jeanine Pirro already dropped this case, recognising it was utterly hopeless. Trump threw a tantrum.
So I wonder how, procedurally, the case came to be before the judge to be permanently dismissed and prevent Trump pressuring some poor sacrificial lamb at the DOJ to try again. I guess it would have been Hearn's lawyers who acted, to stop this from hanging over their client, but I have no idea how that works.
We can now look forward to some kind of ugly, vexatious lawfare revenge act against both Pirro and Hearn. The innocent must ever suffer to protect the monster's ego.
There's the old saying about it being better to be silent and thought a fool than speak and confirm it.

The other thing Hegseth said is that the US military were going to go off grid. All the bases will develop their own independent power generating capacity. Given Trump's prejudices, this isn't going to be wind turbines or acres of solar power across area 52. But good coal fired power stations (or possibly oil or LNG). Since these are off grid they will be exempt from EPA regulations, so generating lots of CO2, particulates, and nitrogen oxides, things real warriors need in the air they breathe. A huge capital investment, plus of course the man power to run them, I assume civilian contractors rather than the US corps of engineers. Although bases will be relatively protected from attacks on the grid they will still be vulnerable to supplies of coal, LNG etc. Of course the Dept. of War now owns its own Venezuelan oil fields. Perhaps soon there will be the marine corps coal mining (MCCM) regiments to guarantee coal to the marine base Quantico coal powered power station and the coal powered steam catapult aircraft carriers.
