You are assuming putting facts out there would make a difference. The last couple of election cycles have made it clear that there's a huge section of the US electorate that doesn't care about facts. And if anyone needs the Democrats to tell them the economy sucks and its all Trump's fault, then they are probably a lost cause as far as the midterms go.

That's my question as well. From what I remember Maduro was replaced by his vice-president, nothing else in the leadership of Venezuela changed and there have been no elections. Is there any actual change in the way that regime acts? Or did Trump just remove the embargo allowing them to sell the oil again and is he calling that gifts?

Delcy Rodriguez has removed a large number of senior military and police officers and replaced them with those loyal to her personally. I think new ministers have been appointed too.

But the nature of the dictatorship hasn't changed, ecxept that it's less likely to pretend to be for the common person (Maduro as Chavez's successor {and originator of the dictatorship} did heavily burnish his man of the people image).
