Cont: Musk, SpaceX and future of Tesla II

tesla sold fsd packages to consumers in vehicles with hardware that’s incapable of running the software necessary to achieve self driving. personally i think calling that over promising and under delivering too charitable. i use different language to describe that

in a sane world, there would be consequences to lying about what their product is capable of and selling a product that doesn’t exist. but there’s enough people out there who will celebrate it because he’s checking some boxes in their personal politics

You do know what “stipulated” means, right? As in…

“Stipulated that, to date, FSD has been woefully over-promised and under-delivered.”
You were claiming we can't label FSD a failure yet because it isn't done yet. It isn't done eleven years after it was announced and ten years after Tesla started taking orders. Furthermore, anybody who still has their 2016 Tesla who ordered FSD back then can't use it with the vehicle that Musk promised was capable of FSD.

FSD is a failure.

class action lawsuits are starting to pile up internationally. i'd imagine these will get very numerous and large. and why wouldn't they?

tesla said they were making cars they said could autonomously drive themselves, then sold customers packages for thousands of dollars to use the feature starting in 2016. then they came out and said any of the cars made before 2023 don't have the hardware necessary to drive themselves. so, they should probably be giving the money back and have some kind of punitive action against them for selling stuff that didn't exist.

like, i don't think that's very complicated or unfair.

It's still behind what other companies were doing in 2016.
A point that had made me rather leery of Fast Eddie B's use of the term leapfrog.

FSD is a failure.

Specifically, Musk's FSD promises are worthy of being called out as being scams. Work on FSD is not even remotely just Musk's efforts to scam people with a dream, though, which means that calling out Musk's fraudulent behavior is a terrible basis to call FSD a failure.

This thread, and Elonia herself, remind me of Artemis by Andy Weird (lol, love the autocorrect), which is also about a moon base. It's a recommended* read because it has the same '16-year old boy fantasizing about living on the Moon' energy as Elonia's ravings. It even has creepy views on CSA and women, just like Elonia, MAGA, and the rest of the Epstein class.

Global YTD car sales ranking for July 2026:-
1. Tesla Model Y, +19.6% YoY
2. Toyota Corolla, -6.0% YoY
3. Ford F-series, -9.5% YoY
4. Toyota RAV4, -25.6% YoY
5. Honda CR-V, -2.4% YoY

tesla is done with the solar roof tiles, as his first but not last foray into passing his personal debt onto his shareholders and then defrauding them comes to a successful close

No. A compute reseller can guarantee a profit margin. The compute customer may not be making any profit at all.
If they go bust that deals worked worthless and that's what's going to happen. Elon is working to make mega profits to justify his share price, not reasonable ones.

So far no one is making profit on AI if you look at their entire balance sheet in regards to AI spending let alone mega profits.

All the mega profits from AI remain sometime in the future, it's computing's version of fusion "any year now".

It’s possible that NVidia is making profits on AI. As the company making the hardware, they should be in a good position. Unfortunately, they are heavily invested in the AI companies which means they are effectively selling their GPUs to themselves.

Everybody is using AI but, I think, if we had to pay what it really costs, almost all of the demand would disappear.

Chip suppliers seem to be doing OK.
Or should I say their shareholders, which is all that matters.

Everybody is using AI except the people needed to pay for it. When Anthropic and Openai upped their fees at the start of the year, their clients throttled back on their usage abruptly.
