Does 'rape culture' accurately describe (many) societies?

Where's the Australian court cases, finding such content illegal?
My understanding is that the law is not being enforced in relation to the internet (which I have previously said a number of times) and it is possible that such cases as there are come under the umbrella term of CSAM.

Here's Darat's post on the law in the UK - #4,289.
I will come back on this

A Christian activist takes it upon himself to collect and edit images of (simulated) sexual abuse, incest, and sexual assault.

How much you want to bet he's kept un-blurred copies for his personal archives?
Any difference between this jibe and that received by William Wilberforce et al? Perhaps you want to resurrect the term 'enthusiast'?

Why talk about a documentary? I'm talking about your expressed desire to overrule or replace or disregard the First Amendment. That's tyranny, and it's a point that you yourself have chosen to raise, and that's much more important to me as a U.S. citizen than my opinion about some documentary or your opinion about law enforcement effectiveness in other countries.
The USA is a disgrace - it facilitates porn that many if not most other countries deems CSAM. It is not an opinion that the USA legalised content that simulates underage porn and that it's citizens upload it to mainstream websites.

You talk about tyranny - but it's all America's. How about them respecting the laws of most of the rest of the world?

Looks like a court thinks it is in the USN

When you blur ethics around sex through porn then who's surprised this happens (if it is indeed as alleged)? A lot of young people think 'no' can mean 'yes': nearly half of young people agree that “girls may say no at first but then can be persuaded to have sex,” (Sex Is Kind Of Broken Now)

Persuaded?

Euphemism for pressured, manipulated or coerced?

And it has not been shown there is a slippery slope.
Yes it has. Why do police forces around Europe take advice from the likes of Michael Sheath?
And it also goes back to CSAM prosecutions are not about a 18 year old playing a 15 year old, they are about sexual abuse of prepubescent children.
This contradicts your:
If the porn video gives the appearance of the performers being under 18 it is illegal in the UK, doesn't matter what media or distribution channel is used.
And your:
The current situation is that the porn that was described in your quotation is illegal, it is prosecuted when cases can be made, people go to prison. I can't think how clearer as a society we can be that we find such porn not only wrong but abhorrent.
CSAM prosecutions absolutely are about the portrayal of any age under 18. You quoted the law yourself. Prepubescent is up to the age of about 10 - so the implications of your assertion are what?

That's... not how sovereignty works. We don't respect the laws of the rest of the world for the same reason the rest of the world doesn't respect our laws.

As far as the UK, Western Europe and Australia is concerned, the USA government has facilitated the production and distribution of CSAM into their (these countries') domains. That isn't happening in reverse.

I've been pruning my mulberry bush (almost a tree now) today - I'll get back to you when I've been around it a few more times.

And what has that got to do with the fact that a nation's laws don't apply to citizens of other nations living in those other nations? Do you think that shouldn't be the case?

Are you aware that the USA allows porn content featuring actors who are over 18 but that look like 14 or even 12 to be uploaded to mainstream websites?

No we don't. We allow computers in other countries to pull data off file servers hosted within the USA. If they choose to restrict such data, that is on them.

This is not in any way responsive to my question. Care to try again?

No we don't.
You don't? Err, you absolutely do. Look the law up. Look up Ashcroft v. FSC.
We allow computers in other countries to pull data off file servers hosted within the USA. If they choose to restrict such data, that is on them.
Except that, as everyone knows, that is not a straightforward process. It is actually very difficult to do this effectively.

So far in this thread you've proposed no solution except a complete ban on an overly vague and overly broad category of content that if enforced would be detrimental to medicine, education, history, art, technology, personal autonomy, privacy rights, and classical, popular, and most indigenous cultures.

Arguing the terrible consequences of drowning doesn't make draining the oceans a good idea.

Poem is once again conflating "material that will get you prosecuted under CSAM laws" and "material that can't get legal ratings/distribution in various localities" and I thiiiiink it might be on purpose.

I have shown earlier in the thread that in the UK, all that happens to a porn producer who's got a toe too far over the line is that they tell him to move his toe and resubmit his film for rating. They do NOT call it simulated CSAM and prosecute him for producing it. Simulated CSAM is a WHOLE different thing from porn with actors that should get carded at the pub.

As far as those countries who have a modicum of integrity left (in respect of their legislation at least), the USA is a pariah and should be treated accordingly. Do you support the US's stance on this type of porn?

We don't respect Afghanistan's restrictions on the education of women and, in the same way, the USA should be called out too. Normalising, glorifying and monetising what looks like child porn should be a red line.

You still aren't actually answering my question.
We don't respect Afghanistan's restrictions on the education of women
In the sense that we don't try to enforce our laws on them, yes we do. But likewise, we don't let them apply their laws to us. Again, do you not understand how sovereignty works?
and, in the same way, the USA should be called out too.
I didn't ask about being "called out".
